I always wonder how universities get the people that they get. When my brother graduated from Yale it was George W. and Hilary, which makes sense: it's Yale, and they're alumni. When I graduated from UW Madison it was some restaurant lady talking to us about organic farming and starting your own restaurant.. I thought I was at the Business School's commencement by mistake, but nope. The year before was the bad guy from Billy Madison, since he was an alum. Like, I've never heard of this University.. like not that that's a bad thing or anything, but it's not a Brown, Columbia, Harvard, etc. or a Big Ten etc. University. I'm assuming Winston-Salem means a lot of $$, but I don't get the connection.

Wake Forest is a prominent university.

That's cool, it's just a university that I haven't heard of before, and next to Bernie or Hilary, Colbert's one of the hottest tickets I can think of. And like, when Matt Groening spoke at Evergreen that made sense, even though most people don't know what or where it is because he's an alum and stuff.

When I was at Tulane we got Ellen and Anderson Cooper. At my other school which is small and very religious we got an archbishop or something and not the one you're thinking of.

Yeah.. I turned out going to both commencement speeches, the year before I graduated and the year I actually did, because my housemate was super hungover and was going to miss it, so I went and sat in the back row so I could tell him what happened so she wouldn't be pissed. And he thought I was fucking with him when I told him it was the bad guy from Billy Madison, like why would I make that up? But it makes sense because he's from Madison and is married to the mom from Malcom in the Middle. Looking at the list of notable people from Madison speaks volumes though for its "revolving door" reputation. I was super hungover the year I attended mine, and I didn't want to, but my parents were in town, etc.. it was 3 of the most boring hours of my life.
