It's implied heavily that humans are titans and all that. Even knowing this myself I still keep up with the series. I just find it enjoyable.

Every character DID turn out to be a titan. It has the laziest plot.

As far as I can tell its just a huge vore fetish "hiding in plain sight" and thousands of hopeless otaku are spanking it to each and every show, every week.

It managed to hit some kind of spawning cycle climax where a bunch of kids now think every other anime going back to the 80s is "like attack on titan" (along with sword art online).

I imagine this is what music snobs feel like kids think a pop band sampling good music is original.

The premise is more interesting than anything the show actually delivers. It's 80% still frames and internal monologues of the protagonist freezing up and giving himself a pep talk on why he needs to fight like a good nationalist.

Yeah, since it was mentioned above I don't mind spoiling it; you pretty much know what's going on by episode 2 or so, the same way that you could figure out Rei in Evangelion pretty early on. But if you like kids swinging around and stabbing giants in the back of the neck, it does deliver, in the same way that if you like Mechas going around punching angels .. well, wait 5 more episodes, and something might just happen.. as far as an anime that's ready for America it's pretty good, or at least better than DBZ and the like, and it's pretty to look at.. basically it's a show cat.

I haven't read the manga or gotten any info but the first season of the show, but I know for a fact that the titans will end up being some weapon experiment that went wrong. The kid's father was working on stabilizing it with his son, because it's a copy of Evangelion, who is one of several test subjects working to overthrow the government which will turn out to be evil, having created the titans in the first place because it's a copy of Evangelion.

The whole "who on earth could the female Titan be" plot was up there with "who could the fourth child be" bit in Evangelion for biggest non-mystery ever.

Have you seen the movie Starship Trooper?

Because Attack on Titan is that without the fun Verhoeven touches.

You can probably make a drinking game of how many time the main character basically quotes Johnny Rico/Casper Van Dien. "I'm from Buenos Aires/Shinganshina and I say KILL THEM ALL!"

There's the even whole expended boot camp part, complete with Washout Lane.

AoT is way better than most anime in that it's actually fairly well made and isn't entirely just the usual garbage that passes for anime these days (the machine-generated, carbon copy scripts/characters/etc.), but it doesn't really keep it up. However, it eventually gets really lazy and conquers itself with all the usual anime tropes, which honestly surprised me given the level of production involved in it.

The above is exactly why this show is so annoying.

It's garbage, but because it's as brown as a modern FPS and violent it became the bestest best anime for the crowd too afraid to watch any anime not featuring a bunch of gore.

I like the art style but the constant 2-3 ramblings on duty and how you should not be a coward or whatever gets annoying after a while.

Well, havent watched many, but I really enjoyed Knights of Sidonia

Not all of those are "the best anime ever", but they're all better than titan.
