I'm thinking it was the Funhouse, but I haven't been there since 2004 or so. I think before they shut down they had more mainstream stuff.

I guess The Funhouse is opening up in El Corazon.. I wish them the best with that but I've never seen a re-opening work very well. For example, Portland's Satirycon is pretty internationally infamous for its punk rock shows, as well as being the place where Kurt and Courtney first met, etc. and when it closed down it was like an "end of an era" mourning. But then when it reopened it switched from 21+ to all-ages and the music was, for lack of a better analogy, bands that would list their biggest influence as My Chemical Romance. I was kind of glad when it shut down again, just so people wouldn't remember that part.

I once saw GWAR and ICP on the same bill, and I don't remember the aftermath being this gross. Maybe ICP's per show Faygo consumption has gone up over the years? It was also in a much bigger venue, so that might be a factor too.

I've never seen ICP but when I was working at the record store we used to find rare ICP memorabilia and sell it on eBay sometimes, and from the interactions with the sort of folks who were so in to ICP they would, say, spend hundreds of dollars on a 12" tall cardboard promo sign for The Amazing Jeckel Brothers I feel it's safe to say that the bulk of the aftermath of an ICP show is psychological.

EH you probably read my post in the other ICP Aftermath vid about the GWAR aftermath in Madison Wisconsin where a pissed off crew just dumped the blood (and probably piss) into a quiet residential neighborhood, and Black Lips, who not only got some 100-odd half empty beers onto the stage, but also pissed into each others' mouths, real urine too. And yeah, Anal Cunt's a perfect example too, or Dillinger Escape Plan where he did some Crouching Tiger shit over the crowd and into the pit.

The most pissed off I ever was at a show was when my ex wife and I saw King Khan and the Shrines. It was rowdy as all hell, but if you know the band, it's a lot of people on stage, and since she was really short, she has to be in the front row. At one point the keyboardist hopped off the stage, and getting back on, his boot slipped right into her face busting her glasses in two. I left the show to get her home, and then came back and everybody was totally indifferent about it, basically the musical equivalent of "you shouldn't have been wearing that outfit if you didn't want to be raped," "she shouldn't have been standing there if she didn't want something bad to happen." I feel like ICP wouldn't let something get that out of control, knowing what I do about them.

oops didn't mean to rate. It'd make sense that ICP and GWAR would play together. To a lot of people, GWAR aren't really "metal," it's just a novelty show, just like ICP isn't hip hop. I can't say I've listened to enough ICP to formulate an opinion but I can say they're no Dilated Peoples, and GWAR really hasn't released a good album since Scumdogs, but I still love 'em.

I was at a god speed you black emperor show in Minneapolis on the eve of the start of the Iraq war. The singer, or violin guy or whatever... some moody Canadian guy sitting in a chair onstage stopped the show and gave the whole audience a stern what-for on how we were all at fault. Those of us fortunate enough to be near the door body surfed to safety on a tsunami of hipster tears.

I think I saw them on that same tour but in Chicago. I like gybe on record but holy shit was I bored.

That was the only memorable thing about it. I'll bet i actually checked the time at some point during another 12 minute yawner. Boring sums it up nicely

The most boring was when I saw Sigur Ros, because I knew somebody who was a DJ at WSUM and he had an extra ticket, so what the hell? I think I regretted it by the start of the second song, wanted to leave but didn't want to seem like a dick. People all around me were actually passing out, most likely due to a combination of drugs and.. well.. being bored shitless.

And I like Sigur Ros and Godspeed a lot on record, even more back when I was in college than I do now, but it wasn't even 1/8th as much fun as the free Dropkick Murphys show I saw just because I had nothing else to do, and I hated DM then as much as I do now. It was just fun and that's kind of the point of going to shows.

Yeah. The venue, if on top of it, would be taking a cleaning charge out of merch sales at the end of the night.

Same for me, but replace "high school" with "post bachelors degree." We were known for having the longest running Midnight Rocky Horror Picture Show in the US, but we'd do it monthly and not weekly so people from all over Wisconsin would come and usually sell out the 1,000+ seat auditorium. Plus it never actually started at midnight. Rice, vomit, popcorn, beer, shit, come, you name it.. I was in charge of scheduling breaks and we'd all get rather ripped at the bar downstairs while it was going on until the bar closed to make us feel better about the impending clean up.

The Majestic? A friend of mine that worked at red letter news would tell us about the delightful leavings of clientele in the jack off booths. But hey whattya expect.

In other madison news a Tiny Alexander from the wisco died. Didnt know him but we used to end up there and crystal corner alot.

Oh no! Not Tiny! He'd come in to the place I worked on State St. all the time and we'd drink at The Pub. Cosmo's no longer with us either; an interesting side note about Cosmo, skinny as he was when most of us knew him, he used to be even bigger than Tiny. Sad.. hopefully the piccolo guy and scanner dan are around keeping it real. The theatre I worked at was actually in Milwaukee Wisconsin: The Oriental. I don't think I ever went to the Majestic but was helping a friend's band load their equipment into their van when a big burst of gunfire erupted outside after a hip hop show or something. I just dropped to the ground but I guess the bullets were way closer to me than I thought. Ah, memories.
