I didn't realize until just now that Timecop, Lazerhawk, Com Truise etc. are on GTAV which is totally awesome and almost enough incentive for me to buy the goddamn game.

Thanks! It pops up once in a while on pandora when I'm at work (ironically I can barely get poeTV at work) but I can't remember which station. Pandora really sucks when it comes to lesser known artists. For example Tycho radio quickly goes into new age yoga shit, as does Boards of Canada. And Bon Iver (yes, I like hearing a man what sounds like he's singing about being trapped in a tin shed while in a real tin shed) quickly goes to Mumford & Son of a Bitch. I needs the albums.

My old Kentucky Blog was really good in the late oughts like Pitchfork was in the earlies, but now I find myself trapped in a local music bubble, which isn't the worst thing in the world, but I like to branch out. That AV Club story about how statistically 33 is the age when people stop listening to/caring about new music really got to me, because it was absolutely true, with me anyway. So haha AV Club..

I'm not sure what I'd categorize BMSR as (it's weird hearing Tobacco in car commercials and in the Silicon Valley intro now) but I really like it.

Nein Nein Nein! Est die Timecop1983! Also perturbator's on the soundtrack. I'll be bored as shit with the game in 10 minutes but at least the soundtrack was great, better than dumb sea chanties in black flag anyway.

I'm definitely down with the interest in late 80s/90s commercial music, but I'm more interested in the music that is incorporating elements of that stuff into something new.

I think Kavinsky's sort of responsible for the whole thing, given the popularity of Drive. I didn't like the movie, but damn if the soundtrack wasn't almost enough for me to like it. Just like Hotline Miami. When I was watching Fury Road I was thinking that it would only be more perfect with a good soundtrack (if I recall it was pretty bland, save for the scenes with Mr. Flaming Double Guitar)..

They needed more Dies Irae.

Not so much 80s music as 80s film music. This wouldn't have been on the radio in the 80s, but it could've been part of a soundtrack.
