I almost never watch this show or any reality TV but I am really obsessed with how out of touch the financial elite are. These people basically ignored their children and treated them like accessories, having the nannies raise them (the wife got a diamond necklace for each of her nine children) and a few weeks after this aired, one of her kids is dead. The husband outwardly refused to spend time on his kids, hit on the woman who was visiting his house (obviously misunderstanding the point of the show being a social experiment and not a sexual one) and openly declared that he would rather work than build any kind of relationship with any of them. His wife is one of the most vapid people on Earth, and the idea of her having botox parties and stripper rooms while her kids idly stand around are some of the more dystopic images. The kids are depressed as fuck, and I think it's just a remarkable metaphor for America in general, that no matter what our society tells itself that all you have to do is throw money at a problem once you get the money, and not worry about the outcome.

Gordon Ramsey is a super nice guy that came from an abusive childhood. He seriously cares about making people happy and enjoys fucking around a lot.

Yeah I agree. He reminds me of an old boss I worked with: total dick at work but would happily get a drink with you after the work was done. But I remember when he was the "terrorizing" chef that everybody was afraid of who'd never worked in a kitchen like Puck was the asshole roommate to those who never had real asshole roommates.

What I don't understand is why people would put themselves through such culinary shenanigans just to work (and ostensibly live) in Atlantic City. At least when I tried out for a reality TV show it was going to be in Norway..
