at this point I can't tell whether 98% of the ASMR videos on YouTube are being produced as clueless attempts of catching in on ASMR without knowing what it's about or if it's just inept self-parody.

I've wondered what it would be like to try out ASMR with stand up comedy. Like some dude or girl up there just mumbling into the mic and every time someone blurts out "WHAT??" from the audience, the comic changes to the next joke in the same manner. ba-dum-bump

Can you be anti ASMR? Like your brain gets filled with rage rather than pleasure? Because ASMR seems to be just a giant category of sounds that has bugged me since kindergarten.

At a gig last year, one of the other musicians was doing an ASMR 'bit' during his sound check. It was pretty funny.

I actually do enjoy ASMR stuff, but absolutely none of the "ASMR" videos posted here are enjoyable to me. They're just inept (aside from the ones that are actual parodies).
