Well, he is blind, maybe the costume is a metaphor for his condition I dunno. Personally I don't see what's wrong with it. Most superheroes begin with speedoes and whatever else they can find in their parents' closet. Like in Kick-Ass for example the quality of the costume was sort of a metaphor for the socioeconomic status of each character. Kick-Ass was just some middle class weird scuba suit whereas Red Mist was super rich and could get his costume made by Armani, and that became more clear when he switched over to being the Motherfucker.

But even Bruce Wayne, who is much richer than The Motherfucker, started out with a pretty lame costume, pretty much just a black hoodie and a ski mask, depending on which universe you're in. A Lawyer probably makes more money than Kick-Ass's dad, but not by much, and PLUS if you were blind would you really want somebody else to make your costume? They could just write your full name address social security number on the front of it and turn you right into the hands of the Kingpin himself!

No, no, I mean the actual Daredevil costume, the "cool" one he gets in the season finale. That's lame. His "street" costume - the one he's wearing in this clip, just the plain black shirt and cap - that one's pretty badass.

Sure, Batman started out with a dumpy looking costume, but he traded up for a nice one! Daredevil is going backwards; he's starting out with a costume that's gritty, aesthetically pleasing, maybe even a tad classy, then trading up to a piece of shit. How a *blind guy* can throw together a costume out of random shit he found in his closet, that actually looks better than a hightech crime-fighting outfit designed by a fashion-forward idiot-savant, beggars belief.

Ah ok I haven't watched the show. I saw part of an episode because Bloodline finished and Netflix likes to just auto play their own shows if you fall asleep and leave it on (good tactic, it's how I discovered Bloodline in the first place) but I dunno. I like DD. He's probably my second favorite marvel character, Deadpool being the first. But a show that's trying to expand the universe to the comics just isn't as appealing to me as a few well done movies. Then again I'm already upset about the Deadpool movie even though I don't know a thing about it.

So if I liked True Detective, Better Call Saul, Bloodline but couldn't get into things like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, don't really care for the Cw shows I have on in the background like Arrow Gotham and SHIELD, should I bother watching Daredevil?

Oh God, Orange is the New Black, aka Prison is the Trendy New Hangout Spot. Don't even get me started on that show. I gave it a shot, and it was better than I expected it to be, but it's so damn creepy - and not in a fun, entertaining way, I mean creepy in a, this is exactly the sort of garbage Goebbels would be producing if he was marketing to secretly self-loathing hipsters, sort of way! I watched the first two seasons, but gave up after the fat lady misused a chapter from "Freakanomics" to promote a classical eugenics argument.

Anyway, Daredevil is great fun, and I'd recommend you check it out. I'm not even that big a fan of DD-the-superhero, and yet this is easily my favorite superhero show, possibly of all time (first season or two of Misfits were maybe better, but that show went downhill so fast that it's hard to look back fondly on it). While I wouldn't say DD's as a good as Breaking Bad (duh), it does a fine job with the material, and as others have mentioned already, Mr D'Onofrio's portrayal of Kingpin is truly excellent. He's right up there with Ledger's Joker and Hiddleston's Loki; even better, actually, so far as I'm concerned.

I don't think movies are a good way to tell Daredevil stories. The slow burn and gradual world expansion of the TV show worked a lot better than a movie would have (even if it had Ben Affleck as Daredevil).

Agreed! Kingpin was the highlight of the show, both for Mr D'Onofrio's topnotch acting, and for the compelling story given him. I like Jessica Hamby, dammit, but Fozzy got on my nerves almost from the moment I saw him. He got a little more tolerable as the season went on, but I think that was mostly because they stopped showing him so much.

Yeah, her and Pam were the only reasons to watch True Blood past the first... all of it, really.

Jason was excellent the whole way through, and Eric definitely had his moments.

I honestly think the show would have been a lot better had they killed Sookie in the second or third season, and then just concentrated on the adventures of Jessica/ Jason and Eric/ Pam.

There's really been a run of "monstrously self-centered woman who everyone inexplicably adores" premium channel shows the past couple of years. True Blood, Weeds, Orange is the New Black, Girls.

Final MINUTES, I mean.

Wasn't Daredevil always sort of dark though? I never read the old ones but there's a difference between getting bitten by a radioactive spider, an experiment that gave you cool metal claws, getting superpowers from some other radioactive disaster, etc. that made you BETTER than everybody else vs. a very real outcome like going blind because of it and working with your very real disability.

But you're right. It's getting overcooked. It was cool when it was just Dark Knight and Ang Lee's Hulk (yes I liked that one): It was great seeing big green monster who smashes whom I never read deal with his own Greek tragedy, and same with Batman with a sort of Stiv Bators Joker, who you sort of rooted for the entire movie even though you weren't supposed to. I only catch shows like Gotham, SHIELD and Arrow sort of in the background because it's all I have at work but they all play out like Law and Order episodes.

That's not to say that I'd like a return to campy Batoosie Batman, but I really wish they'd just get a good director like James Gunn, who did the fantastic (campy but not too campy) Guardians of the Galaxy or somebody else to just go ahead and make a fucking Superfriends movie: I think that would be a nice purge for at least Batman and Superman at least. As little as I know about comics it seems like it'd be a lot easier for DC to make a lasting, fun franchise out of that then it would be for Marvel to attempt the same with GotG or Deadpool. Just a thought, hollywood, if you're listening, can I play the role of Solomon Grundy pleez pleez pleez

I mean, the voice. I'd have to seriously bulk up to play Grundy, but I'm willing to commit! I'll listen to Joe Mosquito every day and drink eggs and run on weird commie treadmills that go way up, anything it takes!

This scene was actually filmed to allow for stitching, but the cinematographer said it wasn't necessary, in the end. And I think it worked, partly because those moments where the players paused to take a breath during the fight, was them actually needing to pause to take a breath while trying to get the scene done in one. That sort of thing gave this particular fight a certain raw energy that some of the other more, eh, flippy fights in the series lacked.
