I don't know whether the voice actor being very obviously not a kid makes this better or worse. It's better in that the idea of having a real kid record it is completely awful, but I think the immediate effect of the adult voice is probably creepier than a real kid's voice would be, because it just makes it sound like some kind of horrifying fetish device.
