Cube - 2015-07-08

Gordon Ramsey does it better.

Sudan no1 - 2015-07-09

True. This is a nasty kitchen but this guy is a clueless honky.

"See that? Does this look delicious to you?"

*totally normal block of tofu*

memedumpster - 2015-07-08

Grody.

That word hasn't crossed my mind in a third of a century, but this video made it happen.

yogarfield - 2015-07-08

this has inspired me to eat at the nastiest place in town

infinite zest - 2015-07-08

I was eating at a place not too long ago and the news was on the tv, and up came an investigative report about the restaurant I was at. They were so embarrassed but I thought it was funny and tipped extra.

Only time I ever complained was when I found a Brillo pad in my pho.

gravelstudios - 2015-07-08

There's a chinese buffet I used to go to all the time. It was one of my favorite places, but then they failed their health inspection. The local paper had an article with all the restaurants that failed. They passed their re-inspection after a couple weeks, and I gave them another chance, but there was no hot water in the bathroom, and I'm pretty sure the food wasn't being kept at a high enough temp. I decided not to go back.

rip scaryaki:

the reviews for this place are hilarious:

"The chicken was good until we found a dead cockroach on the plate under some chicken."

infinite zest - 2015-07-08

Hehe. My favorite yelp is the Victory Lounge the owners a total troll. He's also kind of one of those dicks who were cool but decided to raise a family and get me kicked out of my house kind of people but his replies to bad reviews are pretty funny.

Reefer Fez - 2015-07-08

Seems like an authentic Chinese place to me.

SolRo - 2015-07-08

"I don't think that has been cleaned since the restaurant's been here"

...

"We cleaned this place 3 months ago"

misterbuns - 2015-07-08

he was talking about the air filters.

baleen - 2015-07-08

Speaking of Portland, my girlfriend at the time briefly worked at a very popular Chinese restaurant in town. The manager/owner was an incompetent blathering playboy who knew nothing about running a restaurant. To make things worse, he stole tips and underpaid the Chinese kitchen staff.
In retaliation, they would wipe their own shit on their hands before going back to work when they used the bathroom. They would leave meat and fish defrosting overnight, uncovered. She said it was the most disgusting place she had ever worked. It was filled every night with diners.

infinite zest - 2015-07-08

Ha! I hope it's not chin yen. That was my hangout for years because they had x files pinball

yogarfield - 2015-07-08

oh god

yogarfield - 2015-07-08

also i'm sure this is a picture of countless kitchens along rainier avenue. oh well.

infinite zest - 2015-07-09

Do people ever cruise down the road shouting RAAAINEEER

baleen - 2015-07-10

It starts with an S, it's not chin yen.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-07-08

Now that's what I call authentic Chinese.

Honestly there's probably more restaurant kitchens that are this bad/worse than any of us would care to think about.

Aelric - 2015-07-09

It still looks significantly better than restaurants in actual China. I found myself going to Halal places for almost every meal while I was there because of conditions I saw worse than these.

That guy - 2015-07-09

I can't believe how racist you are.

Aelric - 2015-07-09

At which point is that racist? I was in China for a year, the majority of reasonable, regular person-priced restaurants were dirty as shit, beyond this video. The halal places were cleaner, since it's a tenant of their faith to keep their food clean. All of these things are actually culturally informed, not guessed by some white dude that has likely never been there. Literally nothing about this is racist. Especially since you don't know if I'm Chinese or Muslim myself, jerk.

White assumption is literally the worst shit on earth.

That guy - 2015-07-09

Oh my God, no. Was obvious joke. I though you would be able to tell that immediately.

Was joke based on the fact that a filthy kitchen is determined by health facts, not culture.
And also was joke based on me on this site not accusing a lot of people of racism.

That guy - 2015-07-09

Like– what bacteria, viruses, chemicals and cockroaches do isn't based on culture. And relative to poetv, I'm culturally insensitive as fuck. Though you would laugh at obvious joke.

That guy - 2015-07-09

*Thought

chumbucket - 2015-07-09

Dude, first rule of American Chinese Food, don't ever EVER peek into the kitchen.

Sudan no1 - 2015-07-09

There's a place in San Francisco, M.Y. China (the M.Y. stands for Martin Yan) with a visible kitchen. It isn't much better than this place.
