Bruce Campbell is so cool. He was doing a book signing at the theatre I worked at with Sam Raimi's brother Ted. Usually everybody just wants to split but they wanted to know where to get a drink so I suggested a few places and they got pretty sauced. I turned out having a few beers with them. Since Army of Darkness is like my favorite movie ever I was kinda shaking, but I totally said that they should do an Evil Dead sitcom. My idea was way different though: it's the Ash that slept through the apocalypse and he opens his own S-Mart and all the people from Medieval times come to shop there.. that was all I remember.
As for this, it could be good! I watched them out of order, AoD being my first and working backwards, unless you count Drag Me To Hell as canon (I do) so it went from campy to pretty fucked up and not fun. I haven't seen the new Evil Dead but it looks, well, not fun. And this looks fun so that's good enough for me to torrent it.

I've said this before, but it can't be said enough. Bruce Campbell's performances in the Evil Dead movies, especially in the first two, is arguably the best acting in the history of cinema. Am I being a little over the top? Am I? He's on the screen nearly every minute, responding to the most goofy fantasy situations that you've ever seen, one right after the other, bam bam bam bam bam, and he sells EVERy GODDAMN MINUTE OF IT.
I also loved him in Burn Notice, whiich was not a great show, but it was a good show. and if you're familiar with Bruce's work as Ash, it's fun go watch him play a laid=back character who generally tries to take it easy.

infinite zest - 2015-07-11 Yeah Stars seems to have some cool shows coming out and good for them. I've mostly thought about Stars like how I used to think about American Movie Classics: "they're putting a show on that? Doesn't the "M" mean MOVIES and not series" and they've been the home two of my favorite shows. Stars may be a bit late to the table but at least they're not just trying to do their own Game of Thrones and rip off HBO.
Man, what happened to movies that we'd rather watch series on networks andvertised as movie channels. TMC has some work to do.
