I've actually thought about doing this a lot, having been into Shadowrun in high school.

There's a couple of firearms companies that make miniature replicas of historical belt-fed machine guns in .22 that seem perfect for it.

Anyway, people have almost certainly done this before... a lot. In fact, I'd bet the army is super tired of people trying to sell them this exact thing, tarting it up to seem cutting edge.
