This was the first Freddy movie I ever saw. I know it created what I'll just call the W effect for no good reason except that it took Brechtian tactics into cinematography (or at least the horror genre), which made way for the bullshit slump that most horror movies have been in since Scream and Blair Witch, but this movie was great!

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-17

This movie is definitely great, best thing Wes had done since Deadly Friend and way better than Scream.

Also it's not quite the same, but Werner Herzog did the same thing with Incident At Loch Ness. I like Herzog but he can't direct a monster movie any better than Guillermo del Toro can direct a non-monster movie. There I fucking said it.

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-17

Unless you count Nosferatu as a monster movie, because his Nosferatu is fantastic.

kingarthur - 2015-07-18

Zak Penn wrote and directed Incident at Loch Ness, not Herzog. He just acted in it to payroll some documentary or other and have some fun. He does that from time to time.

Basic fact-checking, IZ. Seriously.

Oh wow! Never knew that. But replace Herzog with Penn and it's the same thing. He is doing Pacific Rim Too! Because that's necessary! Just like a new Bad Lieutenant Too oh wait. Thanks for letting me know though.

Yeah Nosferatu was pretty great; I love Herzog but without Kinski.. I guess if I was going to write a thesis or something I'd say that Dracula's technically not a monster whereas Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Wolfman would be. That's why dracula got to play the guitar.

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-19

I've yet to be really engaged in a Herzog movie that doesn't have a Popol Vuh soundtrack, though.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-07-17

The babysitter bleeding up the hospital room wall scene has always been one of my favorite cheesy horror flick scenes.

memedumpster - 2015-07-17

My only complaint about this movie is that it didn't end with Robert Englund waking up as he slowly died in Galaxy of Terror, bringing it all full circle.

kingarthur - 2015-07-18

I had a lot of fun watching this movie in high school.

lotsmoreorcs - 2015-07-18

This and Jason Goes To Hell tore down the 4th wall and rocked the 1990s. 1, 3, 5 and this stay in pretty constant rotation all year round on the ole VLC. Speaking of which, any poesters know anything about software design or where to hawk app ideas? I had this idea for an app or whatever that would create a little mock custom television channel for your media file playlists that would pop up in the bottom of the screen like a legit logo like FX or CC, with little YOURE WATCHING... Or UP NEXT...babe 2 pig in the city THEN... X files: Tooms

lotsmoreorcs - 2015-07-18

With a little sullen Tooms face turning and facing the camera and his eyes slowly going yellow or his hand stretching up and grasping the edge of the TV screen and looking around before slowly lowering back down

Sexy Duck Cop - 2015-07-18

what the fuck are you talking about

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-18

Tooms is the best episode.

memedumpster - 2015-07-18

I know for a fact that anyone who can program an app will look at you with homicidal contempt if you start harassing them about your app idea with no idea how apps are programmed.

infinite zest - 2015-07-18

Well, if your kid liked Happy Feet, Babe 1 Pig Without A City and such then logically they will love Mad Max Fury Road!

lotsmoreorcs - 2015-07-18

Yeah but they won't do shit cause they're likely all a bunch of beardy man titted cephalopods
