What, no pets and animals category? They only make up the largest biomass on the planet, if I'm not mistaken. (Now there's some greenhouse gasses for you, btw.)

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-07-18

fixed.

gravelstudios - 2015-07-18

I just happen to be listening to the Bosstones.
"I'm sure it isn't good.
That's the impression that I get."

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-18

That's how I feel when I hear the Bosstones, too.

Gmork - 2015-07-18

Zing!

memedumpster - 2015-07-18

infinite zest - 2015-07-18

infinite zest - 2015-07-18

Also how did they find out about this? Were they just trying to reel big fish at the time?

yogarfield - 2015-07-18

Sorry Gravelstudios, I don't mean to be a jerk. I was actually really interested in ska because I played Bassoon and Piano primarily, and can't fucking play the guitar to save my life. So ska sort of represented the place where people like me end up if they choose a life of music, and I remember the Bosstones as being one of the better ones of the revival.

gravelstudios - 2015-07-20

I was actually much more of a No Doubt fan (back when they were still a ska band before Eric quit and Gwen took over). The Bosstones just happened to come up on my Spotify playlist at that moment.

gmol - 2015-07-18

How do you know that it isn't good? Might just be inert.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-07-18

Okay, instead of your usual meals at breakfast, lunch & dinner, I want you to substitute half the food you would normally eat with plastic beads.

The beads may be inert and pass through your system without harming you, but they also have zero nutritional value. That means you're getting half the nutrients you should be getting.

Also, the beads are NOT inert. They do break down in your digestive system. They don't just break down into plastic molecules, the molecules can break up and recombine into different compounds. Remember when everyone was freaking out over plastic food containers containing BPA? That's because BPA can affect the development of the brain and glandular systems.

yogarfield - 2015-07-19

more like BUZZKILL THE HERETIC

Gunny McRifleson - 2015-07-20

For Binro.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-07-18

I can still remember George Carlin's bit about saving the planet.

(I'm paraphrasing) "The planet is fine. The planet's not going anywhere. WE ARE. Pack your shit, folks. We're going away. The Earth probably sees plastic as just one of it's children. It could be the Earth spawned us because it wanted plastic and didn't know how to make it. It could be the answer to the age-old philosophical question. Why are we here? PLASTIC, assholes."

We consider oxygen necessary for life, but it's actually a kind of toxin. Up until about three billion years ago, life on Earth was anaerobic, getting on fine without oxygen. Then the cyanobacteria appeared. It breathed in the abundant carbon dioxide, used sunlight to convert it to carbohydrates & exhaled the oxygen. The effect on the other life forms was devastating, but it led to the eventual rise of the life forms that eventually led to us.

Something will come along for whom plastic is vital for life. We won't be around to see it.

Gmork - 2015-07-18

I like your optimism.

fluffy - 2015-07-18

Could use a "junk food" tag.

The Mothership - 2015-07-18

Seconded.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-07-19

yogarfield - 2015-07-19

fluffy - 2015-07-20

The Mothership - 2015-12-20
