I had crickets a few weeks ago, they didn't really taste like anything. Maybe mildly nutty, it was hard to tell because they were mixed in with other stuff.

I've been thinking I should try to get some and make something simple like this.

There's a sushi place by my house that has Grasshopper Sushi, as well as Pop-rocks sushi. I like the place because it caters to vegans and they're just really cool. but anyway they place the grasshopper on top like it's surfing.

I wonder if it's cheating to be a vegan and eat crickets and grasshoppers and such.. bugs fly into my mouth all the time in the summer, I mean maybe that's just where they wanted to be. When I had kittens one of the cats put their whole head in my mouth when I was asleep but I said nope.

I want to try them but I'm hesitant because I'm allergic to shrimp and shellfish and I have been told insects have a lot of the same trigger chemicals. I think it could help save the environment if we do insect farming here.

I would try cricket ice cream.

If you have a nut or seafood/shellfish allergy you should probably avoid insects, or at least be very careful when testing (have an epipen ready).

Oooo! Grasshopper infused Grasshoppers! My username's from a drink at a bar I used to work at, you know, not necessarily from the book, and I love to experiment around. If this was several years ago I could've also come up with a praying mantis one because they'd literally fall into my coffee cup every morning from the upstairs patio :(

There are people who say, "Oh, people don't want to eat bugs, but we eat shrimp all the time."

To which I respond, "I don't eat shrimp, either. They look like the stuff of nightmares. Ditto for crayfish, crab & lobster."

I fucking miss shrimp so goddamn much you just don't even know.

I had crawfish in Nawlins and when I got back home I immediately found a store that sells them. I loves me mah mudbug!

Ugly things tend to be the most delicious, while brightly colored, pretty things tend to be disgusting or poisonous.

My mom makes some awesome Shrimp Creole; every year that's all I wanted for my birthday. No restaurant, no presents, just shrimp creole. When I turned vegan I thought that it would be a thing of the past, but there's actually good tasting Vegan Shrimp out there, believe it or not.

What I miss the most about eating meat is actually Unagi.. I miss you delicious Unagi. So far science has not come up with a way, though you can kind of replicate it with mushrooms.. not the same :(

I had some trepidations the first time I tried unagi but ever since, I do not visit a sushi place without getting at least one piece. So delicious!

Raising crickets takes 1/12 as much feed as beef and 1/13 as much water. They do not produce methane and require very little land area. What they require is a humid, tropical environment for optimal growth. Cricket farms do not smell and are very clean because the bugs live in crates. There is much less waste and the calories they deliver is very low in fat.

The more research I do, the more it looks like they are a key part of solving world hunger in a sustainable way.

So get used to eating bugs, people, they are the future.

Just re-hydrating the crickets.
