It's important to note that this isn't racist, nor is it why the Hulkster got fired. Whomever uploaded this particular video to Youtube is an idiot. I'd recommend editing the title/ description to properly reflect that.

Still, it's interesting to hear the origin story behind why he calls everyone "brother".

infinite zest - 2015-07-25

Yeah I submitted this before I knew the story and was wondering what the big deal was, like comedians do that all the time but then I saw OZ's post. But like I said before, there's Louis CKs and then there's Michael Richardseseses.

@EH from the previous page. While i agree that we have all said stupid, racists stuff in confidence, and that Gawker is the greater piece of shit in this whole situation, what does raise the level of Hulk's racism is that he appears to only be ok with her fucking a black guy, if said black guy is worth 100 million dollars. That belies a more deeply seated racism than i think most of us have; that a member of another race would have to be within the top .0001% of society just to engage in the most fundamental of human relationships with my offspring. The thought process behind "A black man must achieve at the most highest levels of society date my daughter, where for me to date, you only have to look like my daughter. (both literally, have you seen his post-divorce girlfriends?, and racially)" is deeply racist in a way that should be excluded from polite society.

blue vein steel - 2015-07-25

or from this page, whatever, that is to EH in general.

EvilHomer - 2015-07-25

I don't see that as raising his racism so much as it is him being pragmatic, and recognizing the worth of his daughter. Brooke is a young, attractive, and wealthy socialite - a modern day princess who possesses rare value as a wife. It is only natural that Mr Hogan would not just demand the very best for his daughter (as any father would), but *expect* as a basic precondition for courtship ; I am sure, for example, that Mr Hogan wouldn't want Brooke marrying MY broke ass, despite the fact that I am as white-Anglo as they come. Now we all agree that he was a little racist - Mr Hogan himself was even the first to admit it. But I do not see how his condoning a hypothetical relationship with a wealthy black man makes him more racist - if anything, it's evidence of CLASSISM, and of course classism is another one of those biases that everyone falls prey to now and again (and in certain cases, for very good reason).

And excluded from "polite" society? Um, nevermind whether this is true or not (I am of the opinion that society should not be in the business of excluding anything, else the entire rationale behind a society based on diversity and tolerance falls apart), you do know what Mr Hogan does for a living, right?! He delivers suplexes and hits people in the back of the head with chairs. The closest Hulk and the WWE ever got to "polite" society was Mr. Nanny, back in '93!

EvilHomer - 2015-07-25

Furthermore, we've got to remember that this is -Hulk- and -Brooke- we're talking about. -Hulk- and -Brooke-! Hulk is famously attached to his daughter; they are so close, in fact, that they've got the distinct honor of being America's most incest-rumored celebrity couple.

If Mr Hogan is willing to let Brooke go for ANY man, regardless of how rich or light his skin, than that in itself shows a remarkable degree of restraint and tolerance on his part.

spikestoyiu - 2015-07-25

Yeah, the only way Hulk is letting anyone beside himself bone Brooke, is if they have anything to offer her non-existent career. Black, white, whatever.

blue vein steel - 2015-07-27

EH, i get what you're saying, but why did he call them "Niggers" and "Fucking Niggers"? I was born, raised and currently live in Columbia, South Carolina, so I understand the whole culture aspect of the word and such. But, i also grew up seeing that words direct effect on people, and his use of the word nigger is to separate an entire group of people from being fully human, as he views himself and his daughter, and only through the obtainment of great wealth, can a member of these "others" hope to even be viewed on an equal playing field. His use of the word nigger makes me think that he would be even less cool with Brook dating a black, 0k a year tax attorney. I don't know if he would be so uncool if the same tax attorney were white. I'm sure Brook has banged a few white star-fucker/beach-bum types without even a defensive twitch in the 24 inch pythons. At the end of the day, i can't know what really lies in the Hulkster's heart, but my own experience has led me to believe he has some deeply seated problems with race. Regardless of all that, no one outside of that bedroom should have ever been a party to that conversation, and the rest of us should sleep happy at night knowing that our private peccadilloes are not of the public interest. And the polite society thing was just an ironic cliche.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-07-25

Yeah, this isn't racist at all, and fuck everyone who's done everything they can to ruin his career over this.

Evil.

Chancho - 2015-07-25

idiots

Void 71 - 2015-07-25

Yes, the people overreacting to a horny old wrestler's pillow talk sure are idiots.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-07-25

Wait, that's it? Black people called HIM nigger and he repeated the story? And there's outcry over this??

themilkshark - 2015-07-25

This is unrelated audio to the current controversy. It's still somewhat racist, indicating a pattern.

infinite zest - 2015-07-25

It's kind of like how I was talking about my boss saying "ninjas" referring to crackheads that would steal our brillo pads and other items, a good majority of whom were indeed African American. In his case it was because he was pissed off about product loss. And he knew plenty of black dudes and they'd talk all the time so it wasn't a thing.

But one day, he got really pissed off and started making a sign that said "NO NIGGERS ALLOWED" and was going to put it on the front door until I convinced him that it was a really bad idea to do that and he calmed down. I still consider him a nice guy despite that slip-up, and, well I guess the Hulkster's kind of like Cosby. Am I going to throw away my Hulk action figures from when I was a kid? Nope. But did I lose some respect for one of my former heroes? Yep.

infinite zest - 2015-07-25

But back when I was still kind of learning to poop by myself I had a pair of Hulk Hogan undies and totally shit right where Hogan's face was. It's actually one of my first memories because my parents threw them away and I felt really sad. So take that, brotha!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-07-25

Oh, I just read about that.

Ohhhhhhh. My.

IZ, maybe your ass just knew he had a filthy mouth before you did.

Nikon - 2015-07-25

Bet this was Gawker's work again. They weren't going to lose the lawsuit without getting in some hits of their own.
