The steel mill is surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay in Baltimore County. This mill has poisoned the water for years. Most of it's been demolished now. Put hundreds of people out of work when they shut down the furnace. Rumor is they're trying to demolish the entire plant and build million dollar homes on the forever toxic ground. Source; I grew up across the wooder from it.
We have a slag dump east of Pittsburgh, by Monroeville, Century III Mall area. A half century ago when the coke ovens were going full blast, people would drive out there and watch the mountain of slag glow. I think there are actually houses on top of it now.
