This looks awesome. I got to see Neil Hamburger open for the band The Fucking Champs maybe 13 years ago. I remember it because I called ahead to see if they cared that I was under 21 and that was the dumbest thing I could've done, but the venue made an exception for me because I really wanted to see The Fucking Champs, breaking all sorts of liquor laws I'm sure. I didn't know Neil Hamburger from Adams Apple and it was the worst thing I had ever seen, and my first and only time seeing pro stand-up comedy.

I got the joke later.

i love TFC!!!

Me too. I sort of circumnavigated traditional metal and got really into C4AM95 in high school, kind of on accident, the way I got into Guitar Wolf because I just liked the name and had never heard it before. But TFC sort of had a lot to do with my musical upbringing because I kept going back to Djangos and finding out about other stuff Tim Green was involved in, including stuff like Nation of Ulysses, The Wipers, etc. So high five!

As for this movie, I hope it doesn't suffer from what I'd like to call Adam Sandler Syndrome, which was what happened with The Comedy. It got bad reviews because people wanted to see Tim and Eric Tim, not a real person behind the mask. If you haven't seen it I'd check it out (Turkington's in that too) if you want to feel depressed but wonder what that emotion is, because it's not comedy, it's life happening. And that's pretty funny when you think about it. So anyway I'll be first in line to see this when it comes to town.

the comedy is extremely good. tim heidecker is incredible and heartbreaking. It makes you worry that you are one of those guys. (because i am a rich trust fund asshole)

And two sodas.

chairsforcheap - 2015-07-30

if you showed me this trailer ten years ago jizz would have immediately started pouring out of my flaccid cock in buckets

That guy - 2015-07-30

holy fuckin shit i hate this so much

lotsmoreorcs - 2015-07-31

The Comedy was the best American film of its release year, the director is unapologetically art house but in this case that's not a bad thing

Yeah I shouldn't spoil anything (not that it's like spoiling Star Wars or anything) but the Church scene really got to me. I do know a lot of people who didn't like it not because of what I said above, but just because every character is easily detestable, especially for people who didn't grow up super rich and wonder what he's complaining about.

It kind of reminds me of Clay and his friends from Less Than Zero: a whole bunch of super rich trust kids moping around their swimming pools and having lots of promiscuous sex; sounds great right? Why mope, especially when there's people out there who literally figured out that they can make more money collecting the beer cans of the rich hipsters than they could at any job that would employ them, and many more a lot worse off than that. But read between the lines and Tim's character thinks the same thing, but he's given up on trying to think about not giving up and maybe volunteering at a soup kitchen or something.

The Comedy caught me off guard and I thought it was hitting on something that is important, but The Master and a handful of others came out in 2012, so not even close...

lotsmoreorcs, the Louis CK song that you put in the hopper a while back never made it out, so the one I put in the hopper is not a dupe.

I go see Neil every time he's in town, and usually stick around until he's out of costume just to personally thank him for coming to our shitty town. Last time I did this, he practically invited me to stick around, but I was starving to death, so went to get a hot dog from the street vendor across the way at 2am. Halfway through eating it, Neil came out of the club and went straight for his rented tour bus. I screamed "Hey, Gregg! You wanna hot dog?", but he didn't hear me.

I'll have to legally download this, just so Gregg gets his penny. How do residuals work on VOD downloads, anyway?
