Expose or Exposé?

memedumpster - 2015-08-03

I misspelled suppository twice and just said fuck it.

EvilHomer - 2015-08-02

Oh, Donald. It's funny that you tagged this "capitalism", seeing as Mr Trump is one of the country's biggest individual recipients of government welfare and tax-funded handouts. This movie was filmed twenty-five years ago, you say? So he was, what, only on like his third bankruptcy by that point? And I really, really wish Nick Bravo was out of prison right now; Nick loved Donald, like a son does his father, and while I tried to talk some sense into poor Mr Bravo, he wasn't having any of it. This would have been the perfect video to send him, and I'm sure we'd have seen some Grade A motor-home rants in response.

That said, I'll probably vote for Mr Trump, for Ivanka's sake if nothing else. Gotta stay true to the crew - Blue and Gold 4 lyfe, Wild Boars whoop whoop.

infinite zest - 2015-08-02

I'm honestly thinking of voting for a republican this time around so that Trump has no choice but to become a third party and Perot the whole thing up.

Gmork - 2015-08-02

This is probably the election to NOT vote republican.

EvilHomer - 2015-08-02

It doesn't really matter this time anyway; Hillary is for all intents and purposes a Dick Cheney Republican, and Donald was actually a Democrat up until a few years ago, when he decided to set himself up for a presidential bid. They're both good friends, and he's actually been one of her nicest campaign donators in the past, so as always, every politician involved will win, no matter the outcome.

(unless you happen to be a Green, in which case they will likely handcuff you and lock you in a warehouse, as they did the last time around)

What I want to see is a nice new Presidential library in my hometown, and Donald could make that happen. Hillary, Jeb, Warren, that Christian fellow who does the Simpsons voices, hell even Rand "I support the terrorists" Paul, they probably would not.

infinite zest - 2015-08-02

By "Perot the whole thing up" I mean sabotage. Bush probably would've won in 92 otherwise.

SolRo - 2015-08-02

So how corrupt/crazy is Bush?

Not certain because he's done an excellent job of pretending to be a moderate over the last year or so.

All the others are either crazy religious zealots or crazy corporate zealots. Also Trump, a man that would be constantly sucking his own dick if it were physically possible for him.

EvilHomer - 2015-08-02

I don't think it's fair to slut-shame him. I think most of us would be sucking our own dick if it were physically possible.

IZ- ah, I see. I don't think he'd run as an independent though. He *might* - just to ensure his friend Hillary wins - but again, the outcome really doesn't matter to him any which way; I get the feeling this is more of a delayed midlife crisis than anything else.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-08-02

People forget: The Hillz was a Goldwater Girl back in the day. AuH2O bitches!

HarrietTubmanPI - 2015-08-02

I came out of my comment slumber to call you out, EvilHomer. For 'all intents and purposes', your comments here are completely idiotic. To vote republican in 2016 with the amount of crazies running is simply stupid. And so what if Hillary isn't the liberal you want her to be? Obama wasn't the liberal I wanted him to be but he's a damned sight better than McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan.

And if you want to really be put in your place, you need to realize that a few supreme court justices are close to death/retirement. We have a 5-4 lead with liberals versus conservatives right now. Do you really want those who retire to be replaced by even more conservative judges? Do you really want a 7-2 or 8-1 conservative supreme court majority?

The supreme court alone should be enough to vote Democrat in 2016 - and if it's not you are either severely short sighted or stupid.

infinite zest - 2015-08-02

Yeah it is a little scary. I said a while ago that I'd vote Trump if ArchieLuxury was his running mate, and with all honesty I would've voted for a McCain/Feingold ticket in 2004 in a parallel universe, but Trump's just entertainment. Problem is that most people who enjoy Trump's antics on The Apprentice don't stay awake to watch the news or care about it. And you better believe that I wanted Ventura to win Minnesota and Arnie (because I'm too lazy to spell his last name) to win California and they actually did do good jobs, and on a smaller scale Portland's best mayor (in my opinion) was a bartender who bet that he could run with the best of them and won, so you never know.

But that's not the case with Trump. And EH is right: Trump's totally like your friend's dad who bought a motorcycle when he turned 60, but unlike your friend's dad, Trump actually believes he can ride that motorcycle like he's Peter Fucking Fonda. And if I'm getting off topic here, I wouldn't want Peter Fucking Fonda running for president either but as far as I know he's not an arrogant racist prick.. well maybe a bit arrogant but this would be much worse than Reagan.

EvilHomer - 2015-08-03

It isn't that Hillary Clinton isn't liberal enough, Ms Tubman, it's that Hillary Clinton isn't a liberal at all. Hillary is a pro-war, pro-business, anti-union, Wal*Mart loving, video game and rock music hating, Donald Trump money-taking, proudly paternalist, neoliberal stooge. She's not a liberal, she's a "Democrat" in the proud tradition of Joe Lieberman, and has been this way for decades. Yes, Obama was a huge disappointment, I was very upset to see the hype evaporate and watch as he turned into Bush 2.0. I was an Obamanaut sway back in 2004, when our local Howard Dean chapter got orders to retool for Mr Chicago School, and I cannot erase that mistake. But at least in Obama's case, we had all kinds of myths and hopes; mystery bred expectation, Bush bred desperation. Hillary? Hillary has no such illusions. We can't even *pretend* like Hillary will be outlawing torture and enforcing the Constitution.

If my mane man Donald gets into power, he will do the exact same things that Hillary would - hell, he'll probably call Hillary into his cabinet, let her run the show behind the scenes, just like Obama did! The difference being that people like you, Ms Tubman, as well as the political entertainment industry and the majority of straight-ticket Democrat voters, will actually take offense to things like bombing Yemen and signing the NDAA if Donald Trump does them.

As I've argued before, the only way to revive the anti-war left, the anti-police-state left, or hell even to have a left at all, is to get a Republican in the White House. The fact of the matter is that your reaction, Ms Tubman, is all too common - because we need to support The Party, criticism is only ever possible when the "bad guys" are in power. So why NOT Trump?

Again, Donald Trump was a Democrat up until a few years ago - he's probably still one at heart, so it's not like you'd be losing that ever-so-important Democratic presidency. He's an easy target for vilification, and because of his current gang affiliation, the Republican party will be able to take the blame for inflation, unemployment, and the waves of riots that've been sweeping the country. Sounds to me like a "win" however you spin it!

EvilHomer - 2015-08-03

As for the Supreme Court, I really don't care about partisan bickering over appointees. The Supreme Court isn't about policy or politics; its constitutionally-authorized job is to make objective legal rulings based on laws passed by the legislative branch, not to decide what the laws are.

Isn't it?

That guy - 2015-08-03

What's the betting line on this whole upcoming election being a horrible shit show, and electing someone who will make us get down on our knees and pray for the 'excellence' of the last 8 presidents (completely without regard to party or their horrible flaws), as hitherto unimaginable pigshit becomes part of codified American life for everyone?

Because if that betting line is anywhere near 0 bet to make 5 back, I'm putting money down.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2015-08-03

Good god what is wrong with some of you people? EvilHomer, yeah in an ideal world the supreme court can be ruled by unicorns and rainbows where nobody has bias, but as the last few years have shown the supreme court is NOT immune to bias. You are going to have decidedly conservative/liberal judges for a while, and it has been by tradition that the president selects judges that are on the same side. Regan appoints conservatives, Obama appoints liberals. That's the tradition of how balance is maintained. And, you can bet your ass that if any of the republican hopefuls get elected they are not going to choose ANY liberals, and that could mean a very conservative court that will be pretty dismal for decades.

You really want that?

You're living in a naive little dream world if you think that just because your candidate du jour isn't exactly as liberal as you want than it means they are a complete failure. Obama wasn't. Obama still has limited powers and that's the way it is. However he has put pressure to push progressive policies and has accomplished a hell of a lot. I would still vote for him if I could.

It simply speaks volumes to me how defeatist we all are if we think the worlds going to end if Hillary gets elected. It won't. It won't be perfect, but it'll be a hell of a lot better than ANY of the GOP getting elected. You know why? Because I know we won't be hurtling towards a theocracy or banning pornography, or completely banning abortion and defunding planned parenthood, or abolishing the IRS or gutting the Department of Education - which is what these clowns on the right want to do. Don't believe me? Look at their platform.

The odds should be against us in 2016. The pendulum should be swinging to the right, but the GOP is pretty much giving us one of the easiest election cycles we have seen in a long time. This is our chance to shine, and if we can't get the perfect president we want we can at least make attempts to take over congress, eventually the Senate, and really make some changes happen.

Stop being such pussies and vote.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2015-08-02

This will surely be the thing that exposes Donald Trump as unfit to be President.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-02

I was with one of my best friends the other night and we've been talking about politics and he keeps asking me what I think Trump's chances of becoming president are. I went from saying he has no chance, because he's a huge, festering pile of shit, to thinking he could very well become president. Because in our country, bigger pieces of shit have already been president. America is all about elevating festering pieces of shit into public office.

I'm pretty sure if he wins it will be just like that dude from The Dead Zone that is going to bring about a nuclear holocaust.

Nominal - 2015-08-03

That guy?

You mean Martin Sheen?

Sexy Duck Cop - 2015-08-03

There is absolutely no chance whatsoever of Donald Trump becoming President and it's utterlv absurd to treat it like a serious possibility.

That guy - 2015-08-03

Yeah, I'm on a drug. It's called CharlieSheen.

Killer Joe - 2015-08-02

"Green-mailing" is a new idea to me, but that's about the most trump thing I've ever heard of, if it is what I think it is.

Old_Zircon - 2015-08-03

I haven't watched this yet, but I'm assuming it's something a bit like the film industry practice of "Greenwashing" (as discussed in the excellent, highly recommended Golan-Globus documentary "Electric Boogaloo") wherein if you have an unmarketable, unreleasable pile of crap you put a caption about saving the whales/rainforests/baby seals/whatever in the credits, and then push that angle in the marketing and you automatically get a boost in ticket sales because THE ENVIRONMENT.

Killer Joe - 2015-08-02

Not only is it what I thought it was (you 1. take an significant (if single-digit) ownership stake in a company, 2. use that as a foothold to threaten a hostile take-over, 3. the firm's leadership will buy you out at a premium to prevent that), but wikipedia also mentions T. Boone "Americans died in the Iraq war, so we are owed their oil" Pickens and Rupert Murdoch as being big fans. Big shocker.
