Poor, poor, christians. Even MTV persecuted their little billion dollar music industry.

When I was doing music promotion back in college (2002 or 2003), another kid who was working with me had done some work for a company that handled some of the Christian Rock package tours. They were consistently the highest grossing shows in the country, the Stones (who were, I believe, the top grossing live rock act still) didn't come close that year.

Thanks for focusing on this band, as I remember them from an FM Christian rock show at the time. I hadn't heard the MTV story until recently, but it sounds like it made them cool when they were banned from Music Television.

It's a pretty fascinating journey of a song.. you've probably seen the South Park episode where Cartman just replaces "Jesus" with any other lyric and becomes the biggest thing in Christian rock, and what I've heard that's pretty much true. By all accounts "Hollywood Forever Cemetary Sings" is a Christian Rock song too, and Tilman himself is a spiritual person but this wouldn't be let on MTV either (I doubt, but if you're at work it's safe.. I just like the song) :)
