Apparently, Ben Carson is some kind of doctor or something. That's the word on the street anyway. Which totally makes him qualified to be the president of the country, because ???

infinite zest - 2015-08-07

Yeah.. I've wondered about that. I joke with my dad, a VERY left-learning Lawyer but also just the smartest guy in the world because he's my dad that he should run for at least some sort of political office locally or nationally, or even for President and I never understood why he'd always treat it like I was telling a joke.

>>Ben Carson is some kind of doctor or something... Which totally makes him qualified to be the president of the country, because ???

I've been hearing a lot of people saying stuff like this recently, and honestly, I don't see where the fuss is coming from.

Presidents and politicians come from all walks of life. Reagan was an actor, Obama was a community organizer, Nixon, Ford, FDR, and Bill Clinton were all lawyers, Hillary was a Wal*Mart executive, Jimmy Carter was a farmer, JFK and George Dubya were both hard-partying trustafarians - hell, the guy with the most legit pre-political qualifications was probably George Bush Sr, CIA director and UN ambassador, but I doubt anyone here would argue that this fact made Mr NWO himself a "better" president than, say, Abraham Lincoln, who worked at the post office.

What exactly "qualifies" someone for a job in politics? Which career makes them best suited for the job of sitting in front of cameras and playing ball with the mass media, while appointed cabinet members and un-elected committees handle the daily grind of giving out kickbacks to the right people and preparing for wars in the most opportune places? The way I see it, being a Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon is neither more nor less valid a career choice than any other.

IZ- - I think maybe your dad treated it like a joke, because he knows that he doesn't have enough connections. Still, maybe you could get him to run as an Independent? Maybe start your own political party, the Infinite Zest Party, on the platform that Portland should become the capital of the United States. You guys wouldn't win, but you could probably make a name for yourself, become local heroes or something.

TheOtherCapnS - 2015-08-08

Every single one of those Presidents you mentioned held a lesser office, i.e. were politicians, before running for President.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2015-08-08

And headshot.

EvilHomer, are you honestly advocating for Ben Carson?

The same guy whose tax policy would not only be unconstitutional (as it's biblical) but would bankrupt the nation?

The same guy who thinks the earth is 6,000 years old?

The same guy who thinks being gay is a choice?

The guy is scientifically illiterate outside of anything brain.

In the 21st century, having a president who's scientifically literate and who understands feasible tax policy is kind of a must.

Evil Homer as long winded devil's advocate in every...single...video just might be Poetv's most played out gimmick.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2015-08-08

I really would like an ignore feature in poetv.

Xenocide - 2015-08-07

The evil Siamese Twins who secretly control ISIS have finally met their match.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-07

I will say this, he is an impressive speaker. I was kind of shocked at how some of them floundered and that's never pretty to watch.

infinite zest - 2015-08-07

I actually agree. He fumbled up the Bible/Constitution thing, but dancing around words is never easy, and nobody wants to be The Donald and just say what they think. Republican or Democrat, Christian or Muslim, Black or White, I like what he said here.

Then again I don't have any context and I don't think I can watch the whole thing without throwing up a bit in my mouth, or a lot, all over the place.

gmol - 2015-08-07

Really? I was impressed with all of the candidates ability to stand on stage and stay stuff without actually adopting a an attackable position (e.g. the gay marriage question).

There is something about Carson's voice that is softer, slower and weird cadence...maybe it is just me.

Meerkat - 2015-08-07

Every time I pick up the baton of freedom I am in the privacy of my own bathroom.

The Mothership - 2015-08-07

Um, as a short oration that was actually pretty good. He's not qualified to be our next president by a damn sight, but that was an amusing and memorable speech.

baleen - 2015-08-07

"I'm the only one who has compared the ACA to actual African slavery." He actually did that.

fucking psychopath.

SolRo - 2015-08-07

"It's okay, he's black, he can say that.

Also him saying that and me agreeing with it doesn't make me a racist drama queen."

-Republican Voters

SolRo - 2015-08-07

Also he thinks exactly like an Israeli

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-08

The moment where he talked about how he didn't want to talk about race relations because he's a neurosurgeon was interesting. I can see why he might resent it, because he's got absolutely no way of addressing it. He focused on his own success but he has no idea how to elevate the millions of black people who don't have his experience. It doesn't mean he doesn't care, it just means he's not able to give an answer on what to do.

SolRo - 2015-08-08

I'm sure he cares, which is exactly why he's a member of the "Fuck you. Got mine" party.

memedumpster - 2015-08-08

SolRo, that's not nice. If he thought like an Israeli he'd lock himself up for being black, like 90% of the people in Israeli prisons.

He's no Chuck Schumer.

EvilHomer - 2015-08-08

Yeah, those Other People sure are racist! Just like the Jews!

Why can't every homogenous group of outsiders be as tolerant and rational as you are, Mr SolRo? Perhaps it is because they all have the same sub-human motivations.

baleen - 2015-08-08

He's like 50% of Israelis in the sense that he is a horrible person, but even then, Israel has a nationalized healthcare system.

Israeli health care is so good, and so universal, that members of Hamas choose to get their treatment there. I'm not joking.

SolRo - 2015-08-08

Israeli hospitals are the only ones the IDF wont bomb, so that's a big incentive.

baleen - 2015-08-08

perhaps if your boyfriends would stop making bombs in them?

Sexy Duck Cop - 2015-08-07

Well, he's got Karl Pilkington's vote.

Bort - 2015-08-08

I doubt it. "So I was listening on the telly, um, and this black fella comes on and says he separated these Siamese twins, and I said, nooo, you weren't meant to do that! They were happy, they grew up together, now who they gonna talk to?"

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-08-08

Bort speaks the truth!

TeenerTot - 2015-08-08

Who else despises that "freedom isn't free" bull?

SolRo - 2015-08-08

people that hate freedom!

15th - 2015-08-08

It's not entirely free, but the mark up is absurd.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-08-08

Given prior experience, shouldn't we be scouring old Pokemon episodes for the source to the speech?

TheOtherCapnS - 2015-08-08

By prior experience, are you talking about that one time that Herman Cain quoted the Pokemon theme song in his speech? What does that have to do with, oh.... Oh.
