I voted this up to grumble about the description conflating this with the atmosphere processor alarm from Aliens.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2015-08-20

Oh shit I got the countdown timers confused. Aliens = 15 minutes? Alien = 5?

FURY-161 - 2015-08-20

5 Minutes before the option to override automatic detonation expires, then a further 5 minutes beforethe ship goes kablooey.

Alien is my Star Wars.

You just need to be real quick with the whack a mole plunger style shutdown device game.

I love you guys.

sampling this for the next great EDM DROP HIT!!

Old_Zircon - 2015-08-21

15 minutes or 5 minutes, it's the "minimum safe distance" message that ground my gears. Or at least the middle school me who watched Aliens (taped off HBO, natch) probably 50 times in 6th and 7th grade.

Anyone know if/where I can find cleaned up samples of various scifi alarms? Best ringtones/phone alarms far as I'm concerned

Hm. I might go play alien isolation now..

The Mothership - 2015-08-20

I'm thinking of getting the PS3 just so I can play that game. Do you have advice on this matter?

Old_Zircon - 2015-08-21

The RLM review is pretty damning.

Particularly 8:14 where the alien makes its first appearance. Also the stuff about the parts where it pops out of different air ducts that are impossibly far from each other for the amount of time it takes to move between them, and breaks the illusion of being stocked by a single enemy. They don't actually make the comparison, but their description makes it sound kind of like whack-a-mole.

I havent actually played it yet, It got pretty mixed reviews so I'm not expecting too much*. I'm suprised the game is even on the PS3, I know one of its main strengths is its atmospheric and true to the film graphics so youd probly miss a lot of that on the PS3. If you have some kind of pc I'd spend the €100 or whatever you can get a PS3 for nowadays and buy a graphics card for your pc, then you'll be able to play all the best games!

*Main critiques seem to be the the alien just randomly kills you with no recourse a lot + the game drags on too long with a boring slog of a 2nd half fighting androids.
