That's where I really got into it. When he tilts the decks, is he settling the tape?

I don't know, I kind of assumed it was just something to do while the looped parts played out, but you could definitely be right!

Incredible.

Pretty sure this is a dupe, but still awesome!

Wow, and I thought I was pretty hot on cassette mixing back then on my radio station, just blending and squeaking tapes back.

Great skills!

The end 'scratch', do you call it a scratch in tape mixing? I'm sure that tape mixers have their own DJ language. That sounds like it's from Funkadelic.

When I was in school I always recorded songs off of FM radio to use on my own station. I wonder if this was or is a whole scene that put out mix tapes and everything other DJs do?

Mr. Tape is awesome, I want to be Mr. Paper Towels, from an ad for a cheap brand of paper towels.

Mr. Paper Towels?
Like scratching the toilet roll back and forth across your butthole?
I believe I am the q-bert of that! I should start doing shows.

i don't know about about reel to reel mixtapes if that's what you mean, but it seems like there was a lot of underground mixtape trading going on in the houston rap scene (for example dj screw). i can only imagine similar things happened elsewhere.
