Arguably the peak moment of Tim Burton's career.

Must have rewinded this part about a million times as a kid. If they make a sequel Keaton better be on board.

If you read up on it, actually a sequel was in the works not long after this was successful, but when WB got a hold of what Burton was planning to do they effectively axed it. Basically Burton wanted to do some shit where the family goes on a tropical holiday, Beetlejuice comes with, wacky hijinks ensue.
That was seriously the original screenplay Burton came up with.
So, considering the quality of movies he has been making lately (and don't forget the Alice In Wonderland sequel), I am going to assume it's going to be ducking terrible.

I liked Dark Shadows.
If they do a sequel, I want to see Johnny Depp as Lydia.

infinite zest - 2015-08-26 Oh cool! I didn't know there was a Dark Shadows movie so I thought that was just a non-sequitur. I might check it out. I really liked Burton's Sweeny Todd as well. I'd seen it on stage before and it's always cheesy red ribbons and such to represent the blood; Burton's version was gloriously brutal and gory.
But it looks like it's going to be Keaton and Ryder again. Something tells me that Depp and Bonham Carter will be there too though. There've been other directors that stick with the same dudes most of the time, like Tarantino and Samuel L, Scorcese and DeNiro, Anderson and Murray, but I can't think of anyone besides Burton who habitually casts the same two people (like Burton does with Depp and Bonham Carter) as the leads like there's no other actors in the world. It's kinda cool.

infinite zest - 2015-08-26 I also like how this movie got a PG rating, even though the "13" was put in after Temple of Doom came out 5 years before. Besides the "fucks" there's just a lot of genuinely disturbing (albeit funny) content in there. If it were released as-is today, this would probably be an "R" unless they got rid of the "fuck." Yay progress!
