Yeah, I vaguely remember this was started by the RHCP kicking Mr. Bungle off a tour/show/something.

Kicking a band off a show can cause looooooooonnnnnggggg grudges in underground circles. Horrorpops were hated by some rockabilly girls I know because they kicked some beloved band off a bill.

I think their shitty, shitty name is enough to hate Horrorpops without even experiencing the rest of them (which, if I recall correctly, lives up to the shittiness of the name - I remember thinking they were like what would happen if the people who created Pussycat Dolls decided to branch out into psychobilly - and psychobilly is already mostly a wasteland anyhow.)

According to Wikipedia, this was done because RHCP were being playa haters, tattling on Mr Bungle and trying to get them kicked off tours. You're right that people shouldn't hate on a band just because they're lamestream, but if the band has a shitty attitude and snitches on other musicians, then hate is perfectly justified.

Basically, RHCP were Stone Cold, Mr Bungle was Rowdy Roddy. You don't go crying to The Corporation to settle your backstage beefs.

Don't forget there were also accusations back and forth about stealing ideas. As I recall, I think they ended up with similar album titles and I don't remember if Peppers accused Bungle over the "California" album release or the other way around. All-around it just spun more and more rock band drama hate.

It's absurd that RHCP thought it can claim copyright over the word "California". Not only that, the songs on California and the songs on Californication sounded nothing alike!

It was a completely baseless ART THEFT accusation: the dude from the Chilli Peppers thought Faith No More (different band, same singer) was too much like his own shitty bro-rock band. That claim was BS, of course, but Anthony Kiedis was a prissy primadonna, too entitled and drug-addled to think rationally. Evidently he thought the RHCP had a copyright on playing guitars and rapping?

Besides, if anything, RHCP would be tattling on Mr Bungle for NOT using drugs! The members of Mr Bungle have never been that into substance abuse; Mike Patton himself is straight-edge, so far as I know, which is one of the reasons why CM Punk (yes, Cm Punk!) is a big fan of his music. Compare and contrast this with the Chilli Peppers, who got famous mainly because their bandmembers were walking sacks of heroin.

John Cena advocates clean living, so does Applejack. The way I see it, Mark, that means you should be on Mr Bungle's side.

Rock and roll is no different from professional wrestling. You're a performer, and you need to be physically, mentally, and emotionally in control, so that you can deliver your best work. John Cena drinks in moderation, and I'm sure the guys from Mr Bungle do, too! But that's not what we're talking about when we get to RHCP. The Chilli Peppers are junkies. The Chilli Peppers are the musical equivalent of Benoit - juicing till their brains are fried, then murdering their wives and kids. They're like Rarity, strung out on Tom, and treating their friends and co-workers like assholes because of it.

Wrestlers did their best work when coked up and on pain killers. Benoit went mad from brain damage not drugs.
Any who the art theft accusations are not far fetched. As I said before, they sound like a ripoff of RHCP as Kiedis knew Patton was biting his style.
Its pretty low for Patton to resort to slanderous mockeries. Such acts will get you prison time or a death sentence in CWCVille.

Oh my god, Cena, how many times do I have to tell you this? Mr Bungle does not sound like RHCP! The "art theft" accusation was about a different band, Faith No More. Specifically, it got started because Faith No More released a truly awesome rap single, "Epic", which for obvious reasons, wound up getting more buzz in Europe than any of the Shitty Pooper's dumb songs. As a result, Anthony Kiedis got all jelly and butthurt, and he tried to sabotage Faith No More's career.

You fail in your knowledge CWCVille Law. As you know Asperchu was a parody, and the Asperchu 4 died for it. Officially the verdict was for the murder of Simonla Rosechu, but the actual court transcripts show the vast majority of deliberation was on the issue of mockeries.

The saddest part about it is, 'Epic" wasn't even one of FNM's better songs! It was good, sure, and light-years ahead of whatever crap the Ice Cold Dill Pickles were barfing out, but in all honesty it's not one of my favorite tracks on Angel Dust. Seeing as "Epic" was only an average FNM track, and FNM was basically a watered-down Mr Bungle, that means the Silly Preppers were feeling threatened by a song that was several orders of magnitude below what Mike Patton was capable of putting out!

And if you knew anything about CWCville law, you'd know that there is a huge distinction between mockeries and parodies: things that are parodic in nature (such as the way Mr Bungle are fighting back against the trolls here) are a protected class of speech.

The trial was almost completely about slanderous mockeries. Simonla was an afterthought to get critics off his back for killing the Aperpedia 4 over a comic they drew, but the comic was the true reason for the brutal capital punishment.
There is a huge distinction between parody and mockery in CWCVille law. Parody is used when you appreciate something and wish to use it. Sonichu is a parody of Sonic and Pikachu and through Sonichu Chris shows love for both. Darkbind Sonichu is a parody of Link, Sonic, and Pikachu.
Mockeries are when you imitate something to show derision. The Asperchu character is meant to insult CWC, therefore it is a slanderous mockery.

No, that's not what parodies are at all. CWC routinely made parodic revenge comics about people or things that had trolled him - jerkops, Slaweel, Alec Benson Leary. Anthony Kiedis tried to ruin Mike Patton's Love Quest by getting him kicked out of, what to him and bandmates was, the equivalent of PVCC.

It's not really that bad, though - the drug use is something that the Silly Preppers were inordinately proud of and deserved to be mocked for, while the dead band mate, they weren't really being mean to him, they were just including him in the fun, because why not?

Besides the costumes and the "novelty" act in both of them, I don't notice a big similarity between GJ and GWAR.. Also they were friends and GJ actually started using GWAR's foam costume design idea instead of the Paper mâché and stuff.. I dunno GJ always seemed more "comedy" rock like you knew they were just wearing costumes and writing funny songs, whereas GWAR were GWAR, to the point where I had most of their albums and never heard the name Dave Brockie until maybe 5 years ago.
