OOooouuaaaagh!

It was a simpler time, when unwanted sexual advances were the norm and the Norm was funny.

I'm not even joking here, the eighties were a time of aggressive sexism in the workplace and society. Everyone thought rape jokes were hilarious.

And by everyone I mean everyone that counted, i.e. the men.

I once sent flowers to this girl in my office that I liked, because it was her birthday.

These days that would probably be sexual harassment and grounds for termination -- and the Me of Today would agree with my dismissal while the Me of The Eighties wouldn't understand what the fuss was about.

Sending flowers (or a card or something) doesn't seem like sexual harassment or grounds for termination, if you liked her or not, in the 80s or 2015, at least in my opinion. Not using you as an example or anything, but if there was some established MO, like someone asks someone for an after-work drink or something and is denied, stuff like that, sure, but I'd give cards to female office workers at my last office job all the time on their birthdays. Like yeah I thought they were cute, and maybe they sensed that, but that's just a nice gesture.

Yeah, there were indications of non-interest but hey, it was the 80's and stuff like sexual harassment education didn't exist.

A buddy of mine started a small business and I have been encouraging him to set up courses for his employees on sexual harassment, ethics, conflict of interest, conflict resolution and all that sort of thing but of course he is too busy trying to stay in business to worry about that stuff and it is already biting him in the ass.

There are many many things I would do differently if the me of today were alive back in the 80's -- that me no longer exists, thankfully.

Jesus, never realized how rapey this video really was.

It's because he's no threat to her at all.

She's not really his type...
