SolRo - 2015-09-01
so the other recent india news, where a village sentenced two girls to be raped as punishment for their brother running off with an upper caste girl; anyone have a clear picture about that being factual or not?
Seems like the village is now backtracking...

...but that last quote is pretty chilling.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-09-01 I get the feeling that the reporter is a big M. Night Shyamalan fan. I've never seen an artcle that read more like a horror movie cliche. He's going to stumble on the town's horrible secret, be killed, and then our hero will be dispatched to investigate his mysterious disappearance.

Crab Mentality - 2015-09-01
Someone please weigh in. A five-million voting block in a nation of over a billion isn't exactly a nation-wide group.
What exactly are they for/against?
Who are they threatening violence against?
|
SolRo - 2015-09-01 They are against affirmative action government job quotas for lower cast members.
They are threatening to use violence against whoever opposes them if they don't get their way.
One of their riots last week killed 9

Baron_Von_Bad_Beaver - 2015-09-02 It sounds like jobs are hard to get in India, add in a rigid caste system and that further exacerbates the issue. I would say something about telemarketers but nah.

Anaxagoras - 2015-09-01 What the fuck is your problem? He posted an interesting BBC video about a very strange movement (is that the right word?) currently gaining momentum in India. Hell, it's even an evil movement, so it fits right in with this site. It's a perfect poetv specimen.

Baron_Von_Bad_Beaver - 2015-09-02 This actually pretty interesting, despite solro's usual madness on the Ukraine conflict. The caste system is a thing I find utterly horrific, and more videos on this fascinate me.

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-09-01
This is interesting. There were about 20 Patels in my graduating class, and I never thought much of it. Weird, because I even studied the caste system, and I probably should've figured it was a lot more than Smith or Anderson or Baker.

SolRo - 2015-09-01 I've asked various Indian imigrants over the years about how prevalent it still is, but now I kind of realize that's like asking a white southerner if racism still exists.
