Yeah Doctors Without Borders is great. I know what you mean, but he's still my favorite "comedy" news personality currently on the air (and I'm including John Stewart in that list). Personally my favorite ever was Craig Kilborn. Don't ask me why. I don't know either.

Old_Zircon - 2015-08-29

I wouldn't say favorite, but I definitely remember liking the Daily Show quite a bit until he left and Stewart took over. It's probably hard to appreciate in retrospect, but at the time Stewart came off, to me anyway, as a try-hard little weasel who was more concerned with seeming "in touch with the youth" than in actually being funny, and I stopped watching The Daily Show altogether within a month or so of him taking over. Even years later after he'd found his voice I respected it more than I enjoyed it.

It's nice that Craig Kilborne found his niche as a usician, though. Good for him.

I just liked the juxtaposition. Kilborn wasn't dumb, but he was basically treating it like SportsCenter. If you ever watched Eastbound and Down, I'm pretty sure Ken Marino based his "Sports Sesh" character on Kilborn's mannerisms. And then you had legitimately important and relevant field stories, with just a couple of jokes thrown in. And that's probably why Brian Unger is a reporter for NPR and writes for the New York Times, whereas Steve Carrell and the rest star in successful zany comedies.

yeah, kilborn felt like he was playing the generic parody host and stewart felt like he was using the position as a pulpit, kinda like he wanted to wear carlin's shoes

It's simply heavenly.
