Hmmm. Wonder if he's available?

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2015-10-05

made it a minute and became light-headed with vexation

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2015-10-05

okay. i put on my big boy panties and finished the rest.

i am so fucking tired of these arguments. there are actual gender issues to discuss on both sides, the great majority of which are bigger than either "street harassment" (which is annoying and cringe-worthy at best) or men being stereotyped as harassers. as That Guy has said at least once, this war has become (maybe always was) Asshats vs. Shitheels.

and of course it ends with a buy-my-book plug. of. fucking. course.

wake me up before we push the big red button, please.

Xenocide - 2015-10-05

It's really not, though, because while not every man is a street harasser, practically every woman under the age of about sixty gets street harassed.

So it's more like Asshats VS Half the Human Race.

And that's ignoring the countless instances of women who turn down or ignore the wrong street harasser and end up getting assaulted, raped, or killed.

So I guess it's like Asshats Who Are Potential Rapists and Murderers VS Half the Human Race.

But on the other hand, a couple of feminists posted some pretty angry stuff about this on Tumblr so I guess that evens things out.

Bort - 2015-10-05

It's ultimately very simple: there are context-appropriate times to hit on women you don't know, but just walking down the street isn't one of them.

Bobonne - 2015-10-05

And a lot of women get that once or more EVERY DAY.

Imagine how long it'd take you to get fucking sick of that?

(Insert 'aw shucks, I'd just be so flattered and take it as a compliment, what's wrong with them?' bit here)

magnesium - 2015-10-05

They all have books for sale. I'm starting to wonder how much money I could make if I just start pretending to be a dude and stretch out some "girls are poopy and it's okay to treat them like garbage" screeds to 8,000 words so I can sell them on Kindle for .99.

infinite zest - 2015-10-05

I didn't watch the whole thing but he picked the least offensive examples.

EvilHomer - 2015-10-05

Cherry-picking evidence: it's not just for Anita anymore!

"(Insert 'aw shucks, I'd just be so flattered and take it as a compliment, what's wrong with them?' bit here)"

I will admit that it's hard to get how it would be such a problem until you see it happen, which is why the video this guy is bitching about is so valuable. Not every woman spends ten hours walking around a major city to rack up dozens of comments, so it's a bit much from that perspective, but nevertheless it drives home how such attention could get old pretty damn quick.

Even if you have nothing but the most benign intentions, odds are the woman doesn't want you to stick around long enough for her to realize how safe you are.

The question becomes, why would a guy even try to make contact with a stranger like that? And the answer is stupid simple: because millions of years of evolution say that males don't reproduce with females they're afraid to approach. You find a woman attractive, you feel the urge to approach her ... nevertheless, keep the evolution in your pants in this context.

jimmyboblahey - 2015-10-05

These bitches have it horrible. Damn rape culture. Press 1 to signify your love for Muhammed. Safe spaces for transDolezals.

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2015-10-05

xenocide- point taken. to be fair, i was specifically referring to the internet aspect of the gender argument as asshats and shitheels. I am categorically opposed to verbally interacting with female strangers in an uninvited manner, and do not consider the women harassed thusly or the great majority of their defenders asshats or shitheels.

Xenocide - 2015-10-05

Saying hi actually IS harassment when that guy does it. Because, I mean, would you want him talking to you?

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2015-10-05

BUT HE WOULD PAY FOR MY EXPENSIVE-ASS TASTES GRRRRRRL

Ugh - 2015-10-05

i appreciate how this looks like it's being filmed in a prison cell

jimmyboblahey - 2015-10-05

You guys are such retard rejects that you need to hate on this low hanging fruit to signal how progressive you are.
None of you faggots lift and nobody looks at you twice.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-10-06

Unless you also say, "Hi." to every single man who walks past you on the street, YES it is harassment. You're not saying, "Hi." to be friendly. You're hoping it will kick off a relationship. And since all you know about her at that point is what she looks like, your motivations are shallow.

Women don't walk down the street to meet someone they might want to date or fuck. They do it to get from point A to point B.

If you want to meet someone to date or fuck, there are designated social situations men AND women participate in to seek those out.

jimmyboblahey - 2015-10-07

Smile more :D

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-10-06

Guys, a whole lot of women, probably a majority, don't like that kind of attention when it comes from strangers. So you shouldn't do it with women you don't know.

Yeah, i know you're just paying them a complement. But they don't like it so you shouldn't do it.

I know you don't mean anything by it, and some women seem to like it.

Yeah, I know they're dressed and made up to look attractive, so it seems like they want you to notice. But they don't like to be shouted at, so don't do it.

It doesn't matter why they don't like it. It doesn't matter that you think they should like it. They don't like it, and most women didn't even like it before they became feminist cunts. That's pretty well documented.

What can I say? Bitches be crazy!

Bort - 2015-10-06

"Yeah, i know you're just paying them a complement. But they don't like it so you shouldn't do it."

There's a step or two before that that are worth exploring: you see a woman whom you find attractive, your ape-brain drops the barriers of social propriety that might make you realize you should leave her alone (because -- as mentioned above -- natural selection selects in favor of approaching her), and that's when you pay the compliment. Only it's not "just" paying her a compliment; at some level it's still hitting on her, or at least an opening move. And she knows it, or ought to anyway.
