I hate those books so much. Hopefully Jack Black makes them at least passably watchable.

infinite zest - 2015-10-11 I liked Jack Black in School of Rock, kinda a lot, but that's about it unless you count the Tenacious D movie.
As for the books I never read them because they were always checked out from the library but I liked the show. Plus it got kids to read. I know that's like saying Happy Meals get kids to eat, and there were better things out there, but really it's no different from reading a Stephen King novel with all the cussin' and the violence taken out.

A movie based on children's books! Could be as good as Babysitter's Club!!
|
infinite zest - 2015-10-12 A movie based on childrens' books was also the Secret of NIMH, Ramona and Beezus, anything by Jack London, but you're probably right. Do kids even read Goosebumps anymore or is this just some dumbass nostalgia bait like bringing back Hypercolor?
I always wanted to see an Encyclopedia Brown movie though. I think there was a show, but a movie that plays out like I read the books: just start at the solution page and worked my way backwards.

TeenerTot - 2015-10-12 Yes, but The Secret of NIMH and anything by Jack London are good.
|
infinite zest - 2015-10-12 Yeah I read your comment to imply that all movies based on YA fiction are the same and for kids and stupid, not just YA fiction that was the same and for kids and stupid.
But hey, at least they got people reading. I assume that a bunch of people who go and see a movie based on a video game go out and buy that game, so maybe a whole bunch of kids who live in a world where technology is quickly replacing the need to read, or type without acronyms and hashtags, will get a kick out of the movie and visit their local library for a change.

TeenerTot - 2015-10-12 IZ, your optimism is contagious.
