What Homer is saying that he doesn't get is a clip from the musical itself., which is actually a TV show on the CW called "Crazy ExGirlfriend", which premičred a week ago, on October 12. Its a comedy about a stalker, from a stalker's point of view.

You may or may not be hearing a lot about "CrazyExGirlfriend" in the future. The first episode tanked in the ratings, but critics and the web (and myself) have been jizzing themselves ever since.

One thing I love about this, especially CrazyExGF is that it's not Julie Brown or Al Yankovic (who I also love, of course). It's not a dark, twisted parody of musical theater, IT'S DARK, TWISTED MUSICAL THEATER! IT'S FOR REAL, and that allows for emotional nuance. Rachel Bloom's videos are really funny, but most of them are about loneliness and obsession. Now, she's getting the chance to develop these themes into a whole character.

And she's adorable! As Rachel has observed, we've all been humiliated by love at one time or another. Or is it just me? Well, Crazy ExGirlfriend is like seeing a part of myself, at my most broken and unlovable, and falling in love with it. And that's the kind of therapeutic magic that art can perform.

But, of course, some of you aren't going to like it. There was never any doubt about that.

I liked that this song represents that weird zone between sexual desire and complete cluelessness that kids have. The line about the vagina being somewhere on the belly is great. Even though I have contempt for art as a completely useless to all humanity waste of time, it does offer a kind of connection between people that, while completely worthless to making the word better, does at least give people solidarity in life's common bullshit.

If I didn't want to kill myself immediately upon even considering the idea of doing something creative in this world, I might find it a better solution to my constant state of hatred than drugs, alcohol, and weekly suicide rehearsals.

I wake up every day in a blind rage at being alive, and the process of the passage of time is calming that down so I may sleep later to awake and repeat it again. I am on my third solid decade of this pattern in my fourth decade of life. I doubt I'm going anywhere for a while. I got a few more decades of natural life left in a universe that will last trillions of years without me, why be in a hurry? My problems are delightfully finite.

Some days I don't feel angry at all, and I just ride a whole 24 hours on the deep, all encompassing pain that I've felt every moment that I'm not angry since I was 8 years old. Those are great days. You'd like me on those days.

I was on some weird dignity trip about "seeing the world for what it was" or something. It's not like I'm wearing rose-colored glasses now and think Two and a Half Men is funny, rather it has afforded me a more stable baseline to work with, e.g. everything is not absolute shit.

You see, I'm a fundamentalist rationalist and I am excruciatingly astute. I know there are more incredible, tear ripping, mind blowing things in this world than can ever be put into words. Incredible things. Transcendentally overwhelming things.

I can't experience those things while ignoring what humans do to one another. If I woke up tomorrow as the only person on earth, I would seek those things, but not a moment before. While humans exist to exploit and destroy one another, none of those greater cosmic things are remotely worth experiencing. My own species cheapens the whole of creation to a level I refuse to validate by being okay with.

I may be depressed, but the world is still a shitsucking nightmare regardless, and my depression did not force the human species to be the worst animals alive. When I want to reach a baseline and feel creative and okay with it, I know the drugs I need to take to do it, but those drugs are an escape, and that escape is criminal to my way of thinking.

That's respectably uncompromising. Most people abandon their values if they begin to tax them, even slightly. I'm not advocating escapism in any way or anything really. I'd just say from my own personal experience, I contribute more positive things to the world when I'm not depressed. I'm in no position to give life advice to anyone, I just like you and can empathize a bit.
