If any movie needed a gag reel credit scrawl, this did.

Stars for this soundtrack. I had it on vinyl at one time, no clue where it went to.

Doc Victor - 2015-10-20

Speaking from the perspective of a fan of the books, it could have been a lot worse...espescially if they had let that talentless hack jodorowsky direct ;)
The SyFy version came a little bit closer in some regards, but I'll take a rainy saturday afternoon, a couple G&T's, and the three hour cut of this beautiful clusterfuck any day.

The power chords move me.

infinite zest - 2015-10-20

Oh yeah! I still need to check out that documentary. It was playing near my house for 3 bucks but I was sick and missed it. I dunno if this is how it played out, but what kind of producer says "this one's gonna be way too weird; we want a Star Wars here, let's call a more mainstream movie director" and winds up with David Lynch?

Doc Victor - 2015-10-20

That's more or less it, but Jodo basically makes Lynch look like Michael Bay by comparison. His vision of Dune was borderline insulting to anyone who wanted to see an adaptation by any other name of the book. It's a good flick though, you should give it a look.

memedumpster - 2015-10-20

The Doc is really good, definitely check it out, zest. The hack frauds Doc here doesn't want anywhere near Dune went on to make Alien. The team he assembled to make this are now legends, and it would have been either awesome, or so schlocky that awesome explodes into super awesome.

memedumpster - 2015-10-20

By "the Doc" I meant "the doc" as in documentary, dammit, your name gave me a word seizure.

baleen - 2015-10-20

I've been having the Dune Sucks-No It Doesn't argument since I was about 13 years old. This was my favorite movie in high school, and I think I've seen it dozens of times.

My defense of Dune is that it is one of few films that takes the risk of painting an alien culture in detailed, genuinely alien strokes. The pacing, the sound mixing, the art direction, the acting, the makeup, it all blends to make something beyond recognition. Compared to the shlocky 50's soap opera of Star Wars or Star Trek, it's a relief.

It's mainly the art direction that makes me love this movie so much. It's just a gorgeous movie. Jodorowsky would have done an even more amazing job.

I really enjoyed the syfy version when I first watched it. I tried to watch it again a few years ago, and either it didn't age well or I didn't, because I couldn't even get through it again. The cartoon-looking cg mouse and the over-the-top hats did it, I think.

baleen - 2015-10-21

I couldn't make it 2 minutes into the Syfy version, same with their destruction of A Wizard of Earthsea.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-10-22

The Syfy miniseries of Dune is incredible.

I pretend Earthsea was never adapted. It's better that way.

themilkshark - 2015-10-20

My favorite end credits ever.

Two Jar Slave - 2015-10-20

Runner-up?

betamaxed - 2015-10-20

It's my favorite too but I'm always disappointed by the fact that they did not give the pug a credit. That little guy makes it all the way through to the end.

Doc Victor - 2015-10-20

Neither does Thufir's Cat, for that matter...

infinite zest - 2015-10-21

I think my favorite's actually Wall-E. I made it through the whole movie without crying and then the end credits came up.

boner - 2015-10-21

I like any credits sequence where Jackie Chan gets seriously hurt over and over.

infinite zest - 2015-10-22

touche. Those are my favorites too. But Wall-E's was super pretty.

Kid Fenris - 2015-10-20

NOBODY as Count Fenring Because We Couldn't Fit Him In, I Mean Good Lord This Movie Has Enough Characters Already

Binro the Heretic - 2015-10-20

One of my all-time favorite soundtrack albums next to "A Clockwork Orange" and "Legend."

I don't have a beef with Toto, just "Africa."

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2015-10-21

Loved by the Sun brings the feels.

glasseye - 2015-10-20

I LOVE Dune, and even kind of like this movie, but man, I hate the music over these credits.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2018-10-20

Duke Leto Atreides is the paragon of manliness.
