It's always a good sign when not one but two punchlines in the trailer are just the word "fuck."

Cartoons! Saying bad words! Did we just BLOW YOUR MINDS?

The whole trailer could have just been the last 20 seconds and I'd watch it.

Yeah I think it looks good. Obviously there's going to be the Family Guy comparison, since they both resemble All in the Family on the surface, but this seems more autobiographical. I guess it's the Louie to Family Guy's Seinfeld? Anyway I like Burr; everything in this trailer I think I've heard in one form or another in his stand up routines so it'll be interesting to see it animated rather than what's running through my own head when I hear it.

You had me at Laura Dern

Zzzzzzzz...wha what? Oh, oh yeah, animated family sitcom where the dad is a dumb jerk, brilliant idea, no one's ever done that be...bef....zzzzzzzzzzzz...

Yeah I know what you mean (see above) but I'll at least give it a shot. I said the same thing about Bob's Burgers but now I've been watching it and it's better than I expected for a pretty typical premise. They can't all be Fish Police or Capitol Critters, ya know :)

Xenocide - 2015-11-19

Fair enough, but Bob has never been written as a dumb jerk. He's usually the one reasonable person in a family of weirdos. This seems to be about a miserable abusive asshole, and that's been done so much lately that seeing it yet again threatens to send me into a coma.

Granted, some shows can make that gimmick work, but the Rick and Mortys of the world have a lot more going for them than a generic family sitcom premise. There's no joke here except "Look! He's a bad person! HAW." Maybe the trailer isn't doing it justice, but until I hear differently, I can't get excited to watch Bill Burr work out his daddy issues in cartoon form.

Well at its core Rick and Morty is a family sitcom; in fact for the majority of the first season I was convinced it was just a metaphor for Morty's.. you know.. changes.. dealing with a grandfather who abandoned his mother whom he had never met and running away with him as a form of escapism from real life that every pre-teen can relate to, Rick sort of being the Hobbes to Morty's Calvin: the rest of the family either doesn't know about the workshop or if they do go on adventures they seem to have forgotten, which made me think that it was all in Morty's mind.

That's just my stupid theory and I'm glad they took it further towards the end of S1 and into the whole of S2. But yeah, I'm cautiously optimistic about this one, since it can either go Animated Christmas Story or Wonder Years, or worst case scenario Life With Louie for adults, and Bojack and Rick and Morty set the bar incredibly high, but we've got some time to kill before those come out and I can't see much else out there on the horizon, at least in the animated universe.

Spaceman Africa - 2015-11-19

Why do every one of these 'adult' cartoon sitcoms look the fucking same?

Kid Fenris - 2015-11-19

This looks terrible.
