I do know some people who still like the movie, and personally I like Penelope Spheeris, who made it into a pretty decent mockumentary of sorts gleaning from Decline of Western Civilization pt 2, but personally I can't stand it anymore.

I still like Wayne's World, but I freely admit it's because I have a lot of positive nostalgia associated with it. If I saw it for the first time today, I probably wouldn't be impressed.

Honestly, I still enjoy both the movies in the same way I enjoy Beavis and Butthead.

Sure they are 90s as hell, but they were more focused on mocking 90s culture than promoting it, so yeah, still enjoyable.

I'm only objecting to your claim that Coneheads is funnier. WW has the obvious nostalgia factor going for it and maybe I'm biased because of that. I think MST3K, Beavis and Butthead, and WW are very similar concepts, and that might be part of the reason.

But yes, it didn't age as well as the other two, it was on TV at some hotel some months ago, and I was not able to make it to the end (and this one as well -- best I could do was 14 minutes.)

Funny, I was actually going to use B&B as an example of a short and pretty funny thing that doesn't make sense for a 90+ minute movie, so I'm glad we're all on the same page there. It's not that I think Coneheads was a better movie (please just shoot me before I have to watch either again) but Wayne's World was so trapped in the 90s Zeitgeist that even a few years later it would cease to be funny, save for a couple of V-effect jokes here and there, which was relatively new at the time, especially for a 10 year old me who wouldn't know Brecht from a hole in the ground. But Coneheads, on the other hand, had more of a universal appeal. It worked about as well as Blues Brothers 2000 but it wasn't stuck in some time trap.

side note: a couple months ago I was volunteering for a youth music event and these two middle school age girls lock arms and start hopping.

More than just about anything else about the coming or already arrived dystopia, these sort of details depress me the most.

Aw.. I don't really watch much TV but I assumed that they still had Grey Poupon commercials. It's one of those unretirable advertising tropes like "Just Do It" or the Old Spice jingle or Tony The Tiger's "They're Great!" Plus it writes itself: two X-wing pilots in the middle of a battle get side by side and pass the mustard, and C3PO says "Pardon me.." some shit like that. The Force Awakens December 18th dipshits.

Bugs and the Loony Tunes fading into obscurity is the one that bothers me. Something should be done for sure.

Bugs Bunny is still there. The old cartoons haven't gone anywhere, they have a strong 20th century legacy, and they are still great and will make kids laugh. There is nothing to worry about. Please stop wishing for new, inferior cartoons to be made.

That said, I'm sure new, inferior cartoons are being penciled even as we speak.
