Well, neither is Daraprim.. it helps but it's at best as quick a fix as medical marijuana, which relieves many of the same symptoms, so it's not as evil as being the one grocery store in town that starts selling bottled water for 0 a bottle after a drought. I know a few people who have AIDS and they'd never heard of Daraprim before this. The guy's still a scumbag but he just did in one fell swoop what big pharma's been doing forever. Also, supplements/miracle cures DO claim to save lives, much moreso than Daraprim ever promised; since they're not evaluated by the FDA they can save your life, make your dick grow three sizes, you name it. Just watch Dr. Oz or Jim Bakker or visit your local fuckshop.

It's not the best analogy in the world, but the drug's meant to treat malaria, not AIDS. So it's the same as saying the pot cures cancer, which it doesn't, it just helps. And ten years ago cancer patients had to deal with similar bullshit, the only difference is that it wasn't FDA approved.

Daraprim isn't used to treat AIDS, it is used to treat parasitic protozoans that cause illnesses such as malaria and toxoplasmosis. Most people can be infected by the Toxoplasma gondii protozoa without suffering any symptoms, but people with weakened immune symptoms can develop toxoplasmosis, which can be fatal. That is why the media refers to it as an AIDS drug, but it is not used to treat HIV or its symptoms.

I guess seriously I feel like he's young enough to learn from his mistakes, unlike others running Ponzi schemes, who are old enough to know better. If these people ever got what they deserved, the rest of them would try harder to earn an honest living.
