This is going to age horribly. 5 stars.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-22

It can't age horribly when Weird Al has been timeless.

infinite zest - 2015-12-23

At this point I'd rather if DC's movies went in this direction. Or at least some of them. Marvel seems to have no problem with doing the dark and broody X-Mens and bouncy and fun Deadpool at the same time, and that's the same universe. I guess I'm just imagining a very dark and broody reboot of The Wonder Twins or something being written right now.

blue vein steel - 2015-12-24

actually, x-men isn't part of the Marvel CINEMATIC UNIVERSE TM. It's owned by Sony (i think), who also owns fantastic 4 and spider-man. The Avengers and Dead Pool are owned by Disney (along with all the other Marvel IPs). The Sony Marvel movies are consistently darker in tone, and aside from the X-Men (which is all teen angst anyway), they've been big failures (also aside from spidy's original trilogy 10 years ago, but the reboots failed). Disney Marvel has a consistently lighter tone, and it's worked for them.

We all know Darkseid would be no match for The Golden Girls.

Bort - 2015-12-23

Five way with Granny Goodness. There, I said it.

oddeye - 2015-12-23

Thank you for being a friend

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2015-12-23

Granny Goodness was modeled on Phyllis Diller. The Golden Girls in the Fourth World wouldn't have been that far off.

One of Jack Kirby's more underrated talents was thinly veiling people and things he knew and/or was familiar with, WITHOUT coming across as a parodist or blatant swiper. Hell, Darkseid is partially Kirby venting his hatred for Richard Nixon.

Bort - 2015-12-23

Can I just say it? Darkseid is a poor fit for the DC Universe. He works in a Fourth World framework but they keep trying to pull him into the DC Universe proper so that they've got someone Superman has trouble punching.

Two problems with that. First, Superman rarely works well if the challenge is finding something for him to punch a lot; you'll do much better giving him challenges that simply don't lend themselves to punching. Secondly, Darkseid works better if he runs schemes on earth to try to corrupt people but does not physically involve himself. Which makes sense if Darkseid wants to create a world that calls for him rather than one he has to conquer with force.

cognitivedissonance - 2015-12-23

Funny, I've always pronounced it "Dark Seed".

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-12-23

I keep meaning to watch more of this. It's hilarious.

infinite zest - 2015-12-23

It's always on when I start work, which is usually in the middle of the day. It kind of sucks for kids that way (even though the show works perfectly for my sensibilities) because you'd either have to be playing hookey or actually be sick to watch it on a regular basis. All their "after school" stuff is pretty dumb in comparison. What happened to things like Disney Afternoon?

infinite zest - 2015-12-23

Oops forgot about Steven Universe and Gumball, which are on once in a while after regular school hours. But the rest I can't get into. I did not intend to awake the SU monster. :)

Cena_mark - 2015-12-23

Who dare mention Steven Universe and not heap praise upon it? And you Rodents, how dare you even consider watching TTG. It is garbage that steals the primo time slots from the far more deserving Steven Universe. If there was any justice in the world all the recources used in producing TTG would go towards Steven Universe.

infinite zest - 2015-12-23

Hehe. Happy holidays guys :D

gmol - 2015-12-24

I catch it in the evenings on the elliptical at times. Some incredible episodes....the kid flash one is my favorite I think.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-12-24

I actually just really miss "Young Justice". I loved the fuck out of that show and they just abandoned it. I hated Teen Titans so TTG is just cute and funny and a much more entertaining version of that. That's why I like it. The characters from Teen Titans just irritated me. Stephen Universe I haven't watched more than two episodes of. It's just one of those things I couldn't get into even though it looks really well written.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-24

You've got it confused. The orginal Titans was awesome. This show is the abomination. They original show was funny, dramatic, had cool story arcs. The only reason people have to hate it was that they didn't like the anime style animation.

Bort - 2015-12-24

I loved "Young Justice", it really had a handle on a lot of characters nobody else seems to be able to get right. It's a minor miracle that they managed to make Captain Marvel work as well as they did (he fits into modern superhero storytelling about as well as, say, Popeye would). That episode where adults and children got split between the worlds, and Captain Marvel was the only one who could travel between them, was kind of genius.

I enjoyed the "Teen Titans" cartoon for taking the treacly garbage "New Teen Titans" comic and revamping it so that it wasn't loathsome. Robin was actually kind of cool rather than the Cyclops-like stick-up-the-butt leader. Starfire was a naive and innocent kid rather than the wank object she was originally created to be (a Boris Vallejo-looking half-naked former princess-turned-sex-slave who absorbs languages thru kissing and got her powers from a BDSM experiment gone awry).

"Teen Titans Go" may be silly and doofy but that just takes it further away from being treacly garbage so I like it on those terms.

gmol - 2015-12-24

Oh I thought the Saved By The Bell parody was genius as well.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-12-27

the original Teen Titans will literally put me to sleep.

Teen Titans Go is hilarious, and I actually compare it to Flapjack in terms of the writing.
