Turned me on to this song, though the percussion is kind of strong on my ears.

Yeah 69 Love Songs is a great album, but this recording does make the percussion louder than it is on the record(s). Their later stuff (like Distortion, my favorite MF album) did this to effect, living up to its name, but there's something off about the frequency here, like it was the same 96kbps mp3 I got off Napster back in the day. Actually it probably is :)

Boomer The Dog - 2016-01-05

I have to see if the copy I got is better. You're likely right about the cutoff frequency, the mp3 filter banks are probably causing peaks in just the right place to bump up the percussion.

I wonder if that's a real vintage mechanical beatbox, like something from the 1950s?

That is a cute bunny, wish he didn't take his mask off, that's a violation of mascot rules.

I think it is. I've never seen them live, but my brother's opened for the main guy's solo project, and he keeps all things very analog. I guess he's kind of a jerk too, though, but maybe it was just a bad hare day.

Speaking of, do you know of any bunny punk bands besides Nobunny? I've seen a few that do covers like Black Flag and such but none who do their own material. I actually liked Nobunny before I knew he was a bunny because I just liked his music.

No punk bands, though I think the singer from, I believe it's Counting Crows had a bunny persona. The Residents do a rabbit song, Rabbit Habit.

Goldfrapp had her Furry connection for a while, with the Huskies and Poodles in her series of videos, and the audience would dress up too, I'm not sure if she ever did bunny.

I think there should be punk band whose members dress up like Playboy bunnies, that might be a good gimmick.

I just played some Nobunny a few weeks ago on my show, Boneyard, a short rockin' tune. I'd seen Nobunny some years ago in a studio session, he came to record in a tattered, partial bunny costume to put down some tracks.

I'd look around for more punk rabbit bands or punks laying down rabbit tracks, there are bands for every taste out there, and there should be more who are bunny.

Thanks Boomer! I know that Goldfrapp video from a Dance Dance Revolution game I used to play, can't remember which one, but honestly I've never given the Residents the listen they deserve, at least not yet.

A girlfriend of mine was telling me about a Father John Misty show she went to that I didn't because 30 bucks, but a bunny just sat there the whole time during the set, then jumped into his arms with hug at the end and they walked off stage together. I've been trying to make themes for a new radio show I'm working on so I appreciate this a lot :)

That's probably Strict Machine in DDR, it seems it would have a good beat for the game. The Residents have an impressive catalog going back decades, I don't listen to them in depth, but it's good when you want to hear something weird and avant.

Bunny suits must be one of the original popular mascot types over the years, that cartoon style bunny face you see everywhere. I think rabbits are pretty similar in looks to one another, compared to Dog breeds that have amazing amounts of variation, that allowed designers to focus on an iconic rabbit face.

With the cuteness of bunnies being non-offensive to most people, that helped to make a popular costuming type, that's my take on the number of costume rabbits out there.

Good about the new radio show, I do one and have to look for themes as well. I'd like to hear your show when you get started.

Thanks Boomer! My brother's podcast just got picked up by NPR (it's not really his, but he does the music) so there's a little bit of sibling jealousy, maybe. I've never done it before, but I used to make themed mixes at the grocery store I used to work at and like a lot of music. I missed my opportunity 10 years ago to write for Creem because I was too busy with trying to graduate college and such, and now my girlfriend has a really cool in at the local "underground" (not really it's FM) station, which just so happens to be almost next door to wear I work so I'm hoppin' right in if they let me.
