Looks pretty boring.

I wonder if the game will be emulating Terrance Mallick as much as the trailer is.

They covered the story behind this game on "Reply All". It's heart-wrenching.

This is a subject that deserves more than a videogame. If it's a way to pay for the dev's kid's treatment, that's one thing - but if this is made by someone who isn't even touched by the subject and is trying to make that Indie Game Feels Money, I would be very disappointed.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2016-01-10

The developers are parents who had a son that died at the age of five after he was diagnosed at 12 months. So yeah, they were touched.

It's said that losing a child is the worst thing that can happen to someone, and I believe it. When my mother died, it destroyed my grandmother. The despair and grief ate away at her, breaking her mind and will to live. She died nearly two years later in the bed of a psychiatric hospital.

Awful times.

What MacGyver Style Bomb said. The parents started the game as a way of dealing with the stress and turmoil of having a one-year-old suffering through a brain tumor.

When medicine & prayer failed them, it became a way to deal with the grief & loss as well as making a sort of memorial to their departed child.

I'm sure it will be difficult to review, what if its just a bad game? You dont want to be seen as incredibly callous by taking a shit on someones memorial to their dead child.
I do get the impression anyway that it is not very 'gamey', being weakly interactive without much volition on the part of the player.

I just listened to a podcast about this on radiolab. I guess the idea for the game came from exactly that sort of lack of agency. The dev's son was incessantly crying, no matter what he would do to try to placate him. He said it was sort of like a video game that you couldn't win, at which point he decided games might be a good medium to express what he felt.

The art looks interesting, but there are parts of this where you can hear the parents literally begging god to let there son live and it comes across really creepy to me.

Neat. It sounds like a terrible idea at first thought...which is why I'm pretty sure this is worth doing.

Chocolate Jesus - 2016-01-11

looks like shit, we should all probably wait for the mods on this one
