"boy..oh...wow..whoah..man.."

StanleyPain - 2016-01-25

Oh my god this is the exact same thing I thought of when I first saw this movie back in the day. Awesome.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-01-25

Whoa, I think I gotta change my shorts! That's rad!

infinite zest - 2016-01-25

Hehe.. I'm assuming these are all from the arcade version? They had a cabinet at the 7-11 next to a TimeKillers when I was a kid, but the guy working always blasted metal so I could never hear it. Now going into a 7-11 is just depressing. I don't even think they allow employees to listen to the radio anymore, because it would probably be a distraction.. I miss the 90s. :(

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-01-25

I'd be missing the 90s too, if you hadn't reminded me that Time Killers existed.

infinite zest - 2016-01-25

Eh.. it was gory, that's about all 12-year-old me needed. The arcades that had MK were way out in the suburbs and the 7-11 was right by my house, so I'd just make a pitstop there on the way home. This was around the Tipper Gore era too, so try fibbing to your parents that you're not going to play Violent Video Games when you ask for a ride to the "mall".. I made do I guess.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-25

You shut your mouth, Caminante. Primal Rage sucked and everyone knows it.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-25

But yeah, IZ, I wish you hadn't reminded me that Mortal Kombat exists... :(

#abandonware #fuckwb

infinite zest - 2016-01-25

Ha I'm pretty sure they swapped out TimeKillers with Primal Rage at that same store, but Paperboy was always there. The Supermarket up by my parents' house also had a few games, one of which was Street Fighter 1, which I've never seen anywhere else. I'd argue that both Primal Rage and and TimeKillers were better than that piece of shit.

infinite zest - 2016-01-25

But what's going on with MK? I thought that was your favorite?

EvilHomer - 2016-01-25

Was. They trashed he PC version of MKX the other day. Despite lots of DLC still on the horizon, it will no longer be supported and is now abandonware.

The Gameosphere has declared a jihad against WB Games, but it will be too little, too late.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-25

Between this and my porn drive dying, it's been a fairly crappy week.

infinite zest - 2016-01-25

Wow that's fucked up. Is the logic that PC gamers don't play fighting games or something? If that's the case then they shouldn't release any DLC for Fallout 4 on Xbone or PS4 since its interface seems a lot more suitable (and fun) to play on a PC, and see how pissed off that makes console enthusiasts. Not cool.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-26

No idea. The official response has been limited to a tweet or two, and they're actively blocking fans who ask about it via social media.

Warner Brothers has had ongoing quality and consumer-relations problems with their PC gaming library; they're fairly notorious for releasing broken, buggy, badly-supported console ports. When the PC version of MKX was first announced it got met with a lot of skepticism, particularly from gaming journalists, but Ed Boon insisted they had a great team working on it, that it was going to be a quality game. Turns out he was wrong, because less than a year after they released it, they've pulled the plug. (they are still charging fifty bucks on Steam for the game, mind you)

Serves me right for buying a game instead of pirating it.

infinite zest - 2016-01-26

Man.. I remember how pissed off the few players left in Matrix Online were when Sony/WB Interactive unexpectedly pulled the plug, but that was something like 4-5 years after its release and it was never popular. In that case they might have been losing money keeping it alive, but doesn't seem like it with MKX.

Is MKX for PC moddable much? I remember seeing a few MK9 videos where it was something simple like the skinless suit for every character or something, but nothing that impressive (unless I was looking in the wrong places). In protest MKX fans should just create mods that are replicas of DLCs, and to avoid getting in trouble just change them enough to evade those pesky lawyers, a la Scary Terry.

infinite zest - 2016-01-26

(Hell, I'd much rather play a MKX with Scary Terry than Freddy anyway). :)
