More than a decade of Portal of Evil sites, and this is what it's come to.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

It's A high point.

Xenocide - 2016-02-01

Pearl's Cutie Mark should have something to do with slavery, to reflect on her tragic backstory.

Garnet's should be some sort of lesbian symbol.

Amethyst's changes constantly but is usually a butt because she'd find that funny.

Mother Lumper - 2016-02-01

I could care less about these shitty cartoons, but I am invested in upsetting as many PoeTV folk as possible over something as innocuous as a hopper war.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2016-02-01

You took the flippant words right out of my mouth.

Redford - 2016-02-01

THE BALANCE MUST BE MAINTAINED

Seriously though, I don't understand why someone decided to make a show on cartoon network about that one quest line in Legend of Mana.

infinite zest - 2016-02-02

As far as current animated shows go, SU's probably my 3rd favorite after Rick & Morty and Bojack (I care not for Venture Bros; sorry everybody else on poeTV ever).. as EvilHomer's quick to point out, the show's not reinventing the wheel and it wears its 70s anime/vidya games influences on its sleeve, but I've seen it evolve from sort of a throwaway joke about a skill-less slacker kid with extraordinary powers into something pretty special, when I catch it anyway that is.

infinite zest - 2016-02-02

Oops didn't mean to 5 star, but that is some quality amateur animation.

Redford - 2016-02-02

It doesn't matter what you rate it, as long as the overall rating is exactly 2.5 stars.

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-02-01

Steven is too young to have a Cutie Mark. -1 star.

Xenocide - 2016-02-01

He's fourteen. That's middle-aged for a horse. If anything he should be on his second divorce by now.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-02

Actually, I did some more research, and the good folks over at the Science Fiction Stackexchange raised some great points. In order to estimate the age of an Equestrian pony (which is not necessarily analogous to the ages of an IRL horse) there are two mane facts to consider:

First, Granny Smith was a founding citizen of Ponyville.
Second, as indicated in the episode "Winter Wrap-up", Ponyville has existed for "hundreds of years".

Granny Smith must therefor be, at minimum, 200 years old. Being generous and assuming that Granny Smith is the developmental equivalent of a 100 year old human, then in terms of absolute years lived, ponies live about twice as long, and presumably develop twice as slowly, as humans do. A pony who is the same absolute age as Steven (14) would, developmentally-speaking, be a human 7 year old; far too young to have a Cutie Mark.

The New Meat - 2016-02-02

Awesome is not an appropriate tag for this.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

But it has two of the coolest cartoons combined. Someone should animate a MLP intro, but with the ponies as gemsonas.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Rarity would be a pearl. AJ and RD would be quartzes, Twilightbwould be a peridot, and fluttershy would be something like Lapis.

BHWW - 2016-02-02

It's like the old Reece's Pieces commercials except instead of "You got your peanut butter in my chocolate!", etc. it's more like "You got your inane garbage in my tedious trash!" "You got your tedious trash in my inane garbage!"

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

So which one is the tedious trash and which is the inane garbage.

The New Meat - 2016-02-02

"But it has two of the coolest cartoons combined."

Assuming that they are (WHICH THEY AREN'T), they're combined without reason or wit. There's no logical nexus between SU and MLP that would make one look at a cross-over and think "Ah ha how clever and, in retrospect, perfectly appropriate for these properties to mingle." It's just "Here are two completely separate things that fanboys shit their pants over, let's slap them together to make the fanboys DOUBLE SHIT." Now go down to Alternative Press Expo and buy 100 prints of the Adventure Time crew dressed as Game of Thrones or something.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Well I double shat, so mission accomplished.
If you're such an expert on cartoons The Old Veggies, tell me what's better.

The New Meat - 2016-02-02

Fish Police

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Ha, you don't know what you're talking about.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-02

Oh look, NOW they're plagiarizing MLP.

Find your own identity, Steven Universe. #EndCulturalAppropriationNow

EvilHomer - 2016-02-02

Also, is that the real theme song? It sounds cool, but the chord progression is clearly stolen from Radiohead.

infinite zest - 2016-02-02

Yeah but Radiohead stole it from The Hollies..

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Rebecca Sugar is as brilliant a musician as she is a cartoonist. Check out these awesome songs she's composed.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-02

Oh Gawd. It's like being stuck on an elevator in a New York City department store. And for crying out loud, that last one has a UKULELE! I thought you hated ukuleles, Mark!

No thank you. I'll stick with her plagiarized cover of Creep.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Steven plays the ukulele, so does Sugar, so ukulele gets on a lot the songs. Either way I thought you'd like the last one cause it has Peridot.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-02

Hay, do you hear me complaining about Peridot? No, of course not.

Megadot deserves some electric guitars, though.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-02

Or at least some chiptunes. If they'd stick to Chiptunes and maybe hire some people who could actually sing, the music might not be so bad.

NOT THAT I AM A FAN OF THE SHOW, MIND YOU.

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Most of the characters can sing, Pearl and Garnet especially, but some can't. Peridot isn't a singer, but that scene shows her trying to grasp the concept of music, which isn't really a thing in homeworld.
They still do a lot of the chiptune stuff, but the show embraces all kinds of music

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

I hate the ukulele when it's utilized by girls who think they're so quirky and creative. Rebecca Sugar on the other hand is a creative genius.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-03

But Rebecca IS that girl! She's the most high profile example of That Girl on the planet right now! I'm worried about you, Cena; are you sure you haven't been StevenUniverse'd/ Spike-the-Dragon'd?

There's a thematic reason why "Creep" was selected as the opening song for Steven Universe. Steven, like the narrator of Creep, is a loser; a self-loathing, cuckolded beta who is unable to assert himself sexually in the face of a large, organized group of domineering women. Steven has such low self-esteem that, just like Creep, just like Spike, he begins to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome - loving his captors for feminizing him, growing dependent upon their abuse.

Now I'm not suggesting you're a beta or a loser, no, obviously not. But I do think that you may be starting to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. The fact that Rebecca (without sleeping with you) has already coerced you into loving quirky ukulele girls should give you cause for concern.

M-DEEM - 2016-02-02

I don't know what steven universe is but i dislike bronies

Cena_mark - 2016-02-02

Give it a chance it's awesome.

EvilHomer - 2016-02-03

M-DEEM's not cool enough to watch Steven Universe.
