Shaving a man's head or cutting and plucking his beard was - in the middle ages - the ultimate emasculation. IT effectively meant that a man could no longer be in any leadership position. Shaving in the middle ages is to what blinding was in the ancient world.

And they even gave Vince a cumshot, that's just cold. I guess the cumshot is to what shaving and blinding were in days of old.

Ha! I was texting with my mom a couple of hours ago while (reluctantly but you can't look away) watching the GOP debate, joking that Trump would probably come out at the end and bodyslam Cruz, saying this is what the youth of america wants to see. Her response: "hopefully youth is not that naive."

Yeah mom, sorry.

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-28

If he gets elected he'll hit Putin with a leapfrog body guillotine.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-01-29

my moms dead but my granpa is chill as fuck

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

My "grandpas" pretty much just sat around and watched Fox News when it was a relatively new thing and I was pretty young. It always sucked because cable TV was the second best part of visiting La Crosse Wisconsin next to seeing my grandma, of course. My original grandpas were awesome, but died before I really got to know them. :(

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-01-29

dude my grandpa was a swish too, is that what you mean by "granpas"?

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

Yeah, both my grandmas remarried (one of them 3 times) after my grandpas died. It was kind of weird. I'm fortunate to have not lost a more immediate family member, but unlike the "dad" that might replace the old one who'll hopefully do his best to love you and try not to be the replacement, even though he knows he is, and "grandpas" did nothing but sit there and talk about their own dead wives and basically neglect us grandkids. I know that doesn't apply to all "grandpas" but that was my experience, at least 4 times.

Going off topic but my favorite memory was when my OG would go for "walks" (i.e. go to the bar) when they FINALLY visited my parents in Portland, because my Grandma refused to fly. I was only 9 or 10 and the "walk" was just to the bar up the street, so I'd tag along with him because I never got to see him. He'd just order me a Roy Rogers give me some quarters and a milk crate and I played pinball while he got rather ripped at the bar. His own basement back in LaCrosse was a real-life speakeasy too, since he inhereted the house from his dad, who set it up during prohibition. Perhaps unsurprisingly he died of cirrhosis at 78, but hell, that's the way I'd want to go out too! Miss ya gramps.

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

I wish I had something nice to say about my other OG except for stories I've heard, he died when I was only 3 so I barely remember him. :(

That guy - 2016-01-28

President Camacho

EvilHomer - 2016-01-29

Well, see, Senator Graham's SJ Res 29 isn't so bad after all. All these loony conspiracy theorists complaining that there's going to be "global martial law" if the President is allowed to completely bypass Congress and the Constitution, getting a blank check to declare war on anybody he wishes. There won't be global martial law! We vote Trump in, he'll go and personally clothesline those terrorists all by himself.

Also, JR lies at :09. Donald Trump is quite familiar with wrestling, and knows very little about real estate.

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-29

IT'S STILL REAL TO ME

EvilHomer - 2016-01-29

Kayfabe is still observed within the World Politics Federation, if nowhere else. It'll still be real to us for many years to come.

baleen - 2016-01-29

My dad had this recurring theory since I was a kid that the first guy to turn professional wrestling into a political movement would become president. I always laughed it off, but now it's happening, and it's kind of scary.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-29

Actually, the first guy to do that was Linda McMahon, and she couldn't even become Senator.

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-29

Don't forget Jesse's attempt.

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-29

But then he kind of left pro wrestling behind when he went into politics, so I guess that's a different thing.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-01-29

RMEEMBER THE XFL

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

Actually I think I remember Ventura either wrestling or being a commentator (maybe both) during his time as Governor, but I could be wrong. I pretty much stopped watching WWF around '95 or so, but tuned in sporadically now and again. Wrestling fans might know better than I do, but imdb seems to agree with me..

I remember when Ventura was running and everybody thought it was a joke and he had no chance, but he turned out doing a pretty good job once elected!

baleen - 2016-01-29

Jesse's attempt worked, he became a governor.
This is somewhat different because Trump is leading.

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

Yeah, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little bit scared: I was living in Wisconsin at the time so Minnesota wasn't only our football rival, it was just kind of a joke that I didn't have to deal with; vote for a cat dressed up like a unicorn! Sure! What's Minnesota gotta do with me?

But I've said it before; Trump, much like pro wrestling, will just be a big entertaining facade that doesn't really get anything done. He'll just be the entertaining president that we haven't really seen since Ronald Reagan (and sometimes Bill Clinton), the public will get bored after 3 1/2 years and we'll start over again.

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-29

My gut tells me that a real life President Trump would be like a more moderate McKain. My biggest worry is how bad it would be for international relations.

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

I think in the long run it might be a good thing. People give Reagan shit for not knowing what he was doing but via his "Tear Down This Wall" speech had a lot of impact, something I don't know if Carter or Mondale could've done. Horrible Prez, but he got shit done the way most politicians don't think to do.

But I guess Trump's the opposite, saying "Put Up This Wall.." but let's face it: that'll never happen unless there's another Mexican American War. But as far as international relations go, the biggest toughest guy in the room is usually the winner.

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-29

Did you just unironically say Reagan "got shit done?" He was literally an actor with a degenerative brain condition who was there to fill a suit while his cronies ran everything. He's famous for not reading his briefings or doing much of anything executive at all. I guess he delivered a few decent speeches but it's not like he wrote them.

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

The irony of Trump skipping the debate last night is that he technically won it even though he wasn't there. Seemed like half the debate was talking about what Trump would do instead of answering the questions from their own points of view, even though they said beforehand that it would be nice not to have him around so they could get their points across without a bunch of bullying.

chumbucket - 2016-01-29

"hostile takeover"

unknown_specimen - 2016-01-29

I just had a, kind of, appocalyptic vision of Trump and his running mate Hulk Hogan being challenged to a no holds bar cage match by Bernie Sanders and Daniel Bryan for the heavy weight champion of the world and for the Presidency of the United States...but that would require something to actually happen during RAW

15th - 2016-01-29

Can you imagine an utopia where appearing in the WWE would preclude from running for the highest office?

infinite zest - 2016-01-29

You gotta admit, they do usually give better speeches.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2016-01-29

Do we have an "Idiocracy was right" tag?

Old_Zircon - 2016-01-29

It think that one is "www.poetv.com" actualy.

Adham Nu'man - 2016-01-29

It's real to me goddamn it!

Two Jar Slave - 2016-01-29

Meh. If Obama can show up on Between Two Ferns and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, while still in office no less, then I'll for sure allow any public figure to body-slam Vince for publicity. If Obama body-slammed Vince and then gave a spiel about affordable health insurance, that'd be fine too. Politicians have to reach out to people, and many people watch _________ , therefore it is in the interest of politicians to appear on ________. Lincoln would've done the same thing; he only refrained because he was too stupid to know about electricity.
