These are supposedly about the closest to an actually playable MIDI guitar out there (which is to say it kind of works), but if I remember right they were absurdly expensive at the time and probably cost even more now. Wikipedia says 13,000 1986 dollars at release but eventually lowered to the blowout price of ,000.

So basically, like so many innovative instruments, they're priced such that the odds of one ever reaching the hands of anyone who would actually do anything interesting with it are virtually zero.
