No woman in my devoutly Catholic family ever went to a Catholic hospital to deliver a baby.
That's because they knew if something went wrong, the hospital would make every effort to save the baby. The life of the mother was a secondary concern. In cases where there were difficulties, husbands found themselves not only mourning the death of their unborn child, but also their wife.
I don't see a lot of these "sanctity of life" people making tiny little crosses for all the women who died in fruitless efforts to save fetuses.
