It's interesting you submitted this! If anyone is curious to hear more from Mr. Hayden, he's part of the affirmative team on that Greenwald/Dershowitz debate which is currently languishing in the hopper.
Trump is a pathological bullshitter and I'm as cynical about him as you could possibly get, but honestly? Learning that Mr Hayden doesn't want Trump in power - so much so that Mr Hayden will deign to appear on some middle-brow propaganda program in order to issue public soundbites against the Trumpster - almost, nearly, gives me a glimmer of hope. This is without a doubt the best endorsement for the Trump campaign, or any campaign for that matter, that I've heard in quite some time.

This loathsome toad was one of the key figures in building the panopticon, and today serves as Goodwill Ambassador for Big Brother - if you're pissing him off, then you're doing something right!

Old_Zircon - 2016-03-05 I wish there was some way we could have Trump in the race right up to the end but with a guarantee that he wouldn't end up president, because as much as I don't think he'd be anywhere near as bad as his campaign makes him look I sure don't think he'd be good.
But he's actually pushing the rest of the GOP to the left, and that's a small miracle.

Interesting result of a such an unambiguously illegal order like targeting terrorists families (unambiguous outside of Israel at least) is that Trump could get impeached for them, and because he's so disliked by both side of congress he could actually get removed from office. EXCEPT that this is bizarro land and depending on his VP pick, if it's a dem or an R, we could see one side or the other defending trump and his war crimes to keep the other side from getting the presidency by default.

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-03-05 America, for good and ill, is obsessed with spectacle and emotion. Our networks, and news media in particular, have hardwired themselves over decades to find any story and advance any narrative that will push our emotional buttons to garner higher ratings (outrage being the easiest). The presidential elections have become a pageant, a reality TV show, and old Trumpy is the "I'm not here to make friends" guy that shits everything up, sneers at other contestants, mugs for cameras, and gets the network all the ratings for his antics. They and we can't look away, and he knows and revels in it.
On the other hand, even if we could ignore him, his support base is not going away. They've been building up for more than a generation, and they'll just find another avatar for their anger when he loses. The only real silver linings are that the Republican party has visibly fragmented in this madness, and that party leadership is finally reaping the whirlwind of the Southern Strategy et al. Republicans who have to court this shrieking horde of brownshirts-in-training will be unelectable (at the national level at least; congressmen and state officials with no White House ambitions will probably do just fine).
Hopefully this whole disaster is forcing the GOP to recognize that campaigning on hate and resentment for so long has created a new granfaloon that hates and resents THEM as well, though it's too late for them to stop it now.
