needs 'cosby' tag

to quote the great kanye west

BILL COSBY INNOCENT

btw, hating on kanye is the new hating on hipsters, we are all of us deep down hipster kanye fans. the man has a body of work to rival the great composers of classical music. all should lie back and accept this

infinite zest - 2016-03-16

I don't hate him and care not about his shenanigans outside of his musical career, but I don't hear anything that amazing when I listen to his stuff. I dunno, there's just better hip hop out there.

Gmork - 2016-03-16

except that not everyone likes his music

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-03-16

I wish I could give you negative stars for suggesting I like him or his nails on a chalk board recordings he sells as music.

Cena_mark - 2016-03-16

I like Kanye, cause he revealed the sordid truth about the way George Bush felt about black people.

Cena_mark - 2016-03-16

Which was similar to how Bill Cosby felt about black people.

zurf - 2016-03-16

I have never understood why people say that Kayne's music is so remarkable or great. I just don't get it. Why?

Harveyjames - 2016-03-16

When Kanye was the multiple grammy-winning nice guy who made these consistently well-turned-out albums that sold tons of copies, I was like "great, so he's the Maroon 5 of rap? I'll stick with my Public Enemy and Ice Cube records, thanks". You know, because I'm edgy, and whatnot.

It wasn't until he released Yeezus that I realised that he was obviously brilliant, a person committed to pushing boundaries with a vast appreciation of both the history of music and where it was headed. So then I went back and listened to Twisted Dark Fantasy, Watch The Throne and Cruel Summer and marvelled at their sonic ambition and scope, learned every word. And I found my way into appreciating his first few albums, too.

I don't know where I'd start you off, if you don't get it. Maybe listen to the last two tracks of Twisted Dark Fantasy, or the whole of Yeezus. Or watch him do "Jesus Walks" on Chappelle's Block Party. Or the cameraphone footage of him doing Mama's Boyfriends at Facebook. That's a good one. He's great.

Mind you, his new album is a frustrating thing. It feels like he made one album about fatherhood and settling down, and one midlife crisis trap music record, and smooshed them together into something insane. If you seperate them out they're pretty good, though. I had a go at doing that here.

Cena_mark - 2016-03-16

Harvey, most folks haven't really sat down and listened to his albums, so unfortunately his celebrity persona outshines his music in the minds of the masses.

zurf - 2016-03-16

thanks for the suggestions Harvey. To be honest, all I've really listened to are a few singles that get airplay... that horrible song "bound 2" which I can't stand and honestly hate so much, "gold digger" which I also hate, and "black skinhead" which I also hate. Should I really bother listening to more? I don't get his rapping style, its like he just talks. I guess I'm stuck in 1988-95 golden era stuff... EPMD, Gangstarr, Tribe called Quest. I'd rather listen to forgotten B-grade stuff like JVC Force over whatever passes for rap these days

Harveyjames - 2016-03-16

If you like that stuff you should definitely listen to The College Dropout!

EvilHomer - 2016-03-16

Yeah, I felt the same way about Babymetal's first couple releases.

Cena_mark - 2016-03-16

How dare you compare Babymetal to Kanye. Kanye is a true artist, while Babymetal is just novelty act pieced together by a talent agency.

EvilHomer - 2016-03-16

Actually, you've got it back to front Cena - Kanye sucks, while Babymetal are the true artists. But I am not going to point that out, because I am a gentleman, and refuse to fight over something as absurd as whether Babymetal is better than Kanye, when we *should* be talking about at which season The Simpsons started sucking.

Other things I have had an experience similar to Harvey's with: My Little Pony, Cradle of Filth, Saints Row, Lazytown (in reverse), and New Simpsons, i.e. everything past Season 10.

Harveyjames - 2016-03-16

I wish Kanye would weigh in on the rivalry between him and Babymetal. It's like how Prince would never talk about Michael Jackson. We're all thinking it, man! Say SOMETHING

EvilHomer - 2016-03-16

Actually, I think Babymetal's primary rival would be Ladybaby! Kanye's rivalry is clearly with Jordyn Jones and Rhymeberry.

I find it hard to hate Ladybaby, even though he's clearly a ripoff. There is room enough in this world for two kawaii metal bands.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-16

kanye is not hip hop kanye is more on the level of stanley kubrick or pablo picasso channeling his genius through music/performance art/composing/filmmaking

Scrimmjob - 2016-03-17

music/performance art/composing/filmmaking AND expensive, retarded looking shoes.

bongoprophet - 2016-03-17

Dark Fantasy is one of the best albums released this decade. Not really feeling Pablo yet but I have really started to dig Yeezus,

blue vein steel - 2016-03-18

Gave a 5 without mentioning that Dennis Franz voiced himself in this
