Binro the Heretic - 2016-03-21

Real-life murderers are never as smooth as the ones portrayed in movies and on TV.

Old_Zircon - 2016-03-21

Amazingly, he wasn't taken in as a suspect after this, they caught him because he was brought in on unrelated burglary charges and they found evidence on his computer tying him to the murder.

Binro the Heretic - 2016-03-21

Understandable. His behavior could also have been explained by finding out she was actually dead as opposed to just missing.

Old_Zircon - 2016-03-21

Yeah.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2016-03-21

Phil Spektor's grandkid?

Nominal - 2016-03-21

More the alien robot kid from Wet Hot American Summer.

baleen - 2016-03-21

I am FB friends with Phil's daughter. She maintains his innocence!!!

Kabbage - 2016-03-21

Can someone edit in the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme right there at the end?

fedex - 2016-03-21

I was more thinking the Seinfeld bass riff right after he says "body?"

Old_Zircon - 2016-03-21

Me too but I watched a LOT of Seinfeld this month.

EvilHomer - 2016-03-21

I'm thinking Coheed and Cambria.

Gmork - 2016-03-21

Their entire discography? That would make this video quite a bit longer.

EvilHomer - 2016-03-21

You could pick and choose small segments. The important thing is that Claudio here gets to sing his own pre-imprisonment eulogy.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-22

Fur is Murder - 2016-03-21

aing

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2016-03-21

apparently he was (he claims) in a psychotic state, the main tentpole belief of which was that he had in fact *not* strangled his neighbor, that she was "still alive"? cripes

Robin Kestrel - 2016-03-21

Think about it though... His reactions are the reactions of person who, until that moment, wasn't sure if his neighbor was really dead. I can believe that. I can believe he was genuinely that disconnected from reality.

Tough American Bouncer - 2016-03-21

The "Holy shit I am screwed" - look comes only from the viewers knowledge of the future events. Without the hindsight you would see this as person who is shocked that some one they knew is dead. There are clips taken minutes after this where he seems to be in tears and reporters are handling him like your average sorrow stricken person.

Bort - 2016-03-21

Yep. I would advise against a jury taking a suspect's reactions as evidence of guilt, but I'm not a jury and this is not a man who just learned the girl is dead. This is a man who realizes he is in danger now and doesn't know how to protect himself.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-21

well he remembered the whole thing pretty well in his written confession of a guilty plea you fucking mutton chop sympathizers

Tough American Bouncer - 2016-03-21

I am not questioning his guilt here. I am stating that most would not see this as "oh shit" -reaction without the context. He could pass as grieving person for good amount of people (as he did) and this could therefore be an indication of him being psychopathic.

I find it really troublesome that people claim that they can see these killers for what they are, when often they can mask them self as "friendly and did not bother anyone"-type of persons.

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-21

point taken

spikestoyiu - 2016-03-21

Without context, my first reaction would be "why the fuck is this weirdo so distraught over the death of his neighbor?"

Tough American Bouncer - 2016-03-21

@spikestoyiu
Again, hindsight. You are watching video that has title that explains the context and the video has bright big letters "killer" indicating that he is a "weirdo".

Without that he seems to talk about being her classmate, how he and her friends were looking for her and how they were worried. He could be seen as someone who has legitimate emotional investment and therefore can be shocked by the revelation.

These "I am walking polygraph" attitudes are big part why there are good amount of innocent people in the jail.

Bort - 2016-03-21

People who show too much grief are assumed to be guilty, people who show too little grief are assumed to be guilty, people who show the right amount of grief are assumed to be faking it and therefore guilty.

Knowing what I know it's clearly a "threatened and looking for an escape route" response, but I'd rather let the physical evidence prove the case.

EvilHomer - 2016-03-22

I dunno, Bort, sounds to me like something's bothering you. Suddenly all this negativity? Sounds to me like you might be trying to hide something.

When was the last time you saw Lauren, and where were you on the night of June 26?

spikestoyiu - 2016-03-22

I would never consider myself a "walking polygraph" and my initial reaction would not be that this dude murdered her, just that his reaction is pretty odd for someone who never claims to be close to her.

Bort - 2016-03-21

Now explain your "DIE LAUREN DIE" tattoo.

Gmork - 2016-03-21

It's german for, "The Lauren, The"

BiggerJ - 2016-03-22

No one who speaks German could be an evil man.

memedumpster - 2016-03-21

Schizoid scruffy scofflaw scurrilously scooped by scrupulous skeptic!

yogarfield - 2016-03-21

Waugh?

fedex - 2016-03-21

too nice

chumbucket - 2016-03-21

I have made a terrible mistake.

15th - 2016-03-21

Holy shit.

misterbuns - 2016-03-21

The full police interview is pretty amazing.

someone else can upload it though because my schedule it too full of being awesome ( this comment just cost my a number of meetings )

Tough American Bouncer - 2016-03-21

I submitted it to the hopper.

spikestoyiu - 2016-03-21

I somehow watched the whole thing and just remember him repeating "I don't know" in the weirdest voice

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-21

you're welcome!

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2016-03-21

Never heard of this case until now. The victim was a pretty blonde. I take it she rejected his advances and frequent requests to come over watch MLP with him causing him to enter Supreme Gentleman mode?

EvilHomer - 2016-03-21

In the pony fandom, we call it "going Spikezilla".

lotsmoreorcs - 2016-03-21

adventure time and pony whatever are total shit

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2016-03-21

Points for "Supreme Gentleman mode."

Gmork - 2016-03-21

pony whatever is indeed total shit

EvilHomer - 2016-03-21

Hell yeah, ponies ARE totally the shit! I'm glad you guys are coming around.

Who's your favorite pony, New Orcs? You strike me as a Pinkie Pie sorta dude.

memedumpster - 2016-03-21

I'm down for any pony named Keg.

EvilHomer - 2016-03-21

Closest I could find for you is Drinky Doodles, who runs the Pony Keg beer brewery.

http://bronies.wikia.com/wiki/Drinky_Doodles

StanleyPain - 2016-03-22

Yeah, if only this had happened today, this guy would be an MRA/Gamergater hero

Binro the Heretic - 2016-03-23

I tried watching an episode of "Pony Whatever" once, but only made it five minutes in.

Two cartoon ponies stood in a green grassy field in awkward silence for a while. One started sucking its teeth until the other gave it an annoyed look and it stopped. Then one pony kicked at a little pebble on the ground while the other sighed deeply.

I switched over to "Steven Somethingorother" and watched a kid named Steven sitting in a chair and seeing how far he could lean it back on two legs before it started to tip over.

I miss the 1980s, when cartoons were written by cocaine.

memedumpster - 2016-03-23

Just skip to 2:15.

Immediately, cocaine wins.

Potter - 2016-03-22

“Graduate from law school,” the prosecutor read, addressing the judge. “Party hard by drinking alone in front of my computer. See my sexy neighbor/classmate come home late. She has talked to me occasionally in the past. Has wanted [a certain piece of my anatomy] for three years. Invite her up for a nightcap, make her a special drink called a Mickey Finn.

She’s out cold. I finally lose my V-card. Oh, no, she OD’d and died. I barbecue her legs and arms to celebrate losing my V-card. Not into organ meat, but throw her torso out, lose it on TV while the cops are discovering her remains, you mad virgins.”

http://abovethelaw.com/2012/04/a-creepy-new-claim-about-stephe n-mcdaniel-in-lauren-giddings-murder-case/

Jesus fuck...

memedumpster - 2016-03-22

Holy fuck fuck. Links off that link lead to even more holy fuck.

EvilHomer - 2016-03-22

Yeah, that website reeks of moralizing and paranoia, but that's not really "holy fuck" so much as just par for course, so far as "true crime" websites are concerned. It takes a certain kind of person to do true crime journalism, and you come to expect this kind of over-the-top editorializing from them.

Muttonchop is a bit weird, too.

memedumpster - 2016-03-22

EH, having known actual true crime journalists, I can tell you're just trying to make the conversation not worth it in your bland troll way, because you didn't say : "True crime journalists are the injected cocaine straight into the eyes of chihuahuas of wired up strung out impulsive human beings."

You just called on the phone, you said to tell you this is you, phoning it in.

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2016-03-23

that post (from operatorchan, of all places) is purported to have been posted *after* mcdaniel was incarcerated...

Sudan no1 - 2016-03-23
