Don't get adult swim in Romania. We get TCM after 10 PM.

We used to get TNT after CN back in the late 90s and it would air Space Ghost Coast ot Coast. It would also air WCW Nitro and later Thunder consecutively every Friday night at midnight. That was my introduction to wrestling.

I'd say TV was a dying medium already when adult swim started. People who still watch TV are probably old.
I have enjoyed many great adult swim shows, but off tpb years after they came out.
(Also adult swims website sucks)

Not sure if I agree with their comment about anime being their biggest contribution. I feel like stuff like Cowboy Bebop and FLCL had a decent audience before Adult Swim, and most anime fans bootleg this stuff rather than watch it on Adult Swim. Although it is nice to see it on TV and I really appreciate that they might make a new FLCL series.

It's pretty amazing how many good shows they've produced when you go back and look at it, though. About a year ago when they put a bunch of their content on Hulu I ended up watching all of The Heart She Holler in the space of about a week. Amazing show and I appreciate that they funnel all that money they make off Family Guy reruns into making stuff like that.

Didn't mean this to be a reply but who cares

EvilHomer - 2016-04-11

Jesus. I thought Adult Swim was just something stoners watched when they were at their mom's house, or some other house that still had a working TV. Who knew it was it culturally significant and cutting-edge?

Haw!

EvilHomer - 2016-04-11

Meant to be a reply to myself. Totally called it.

Cena_mark - 2016-04-11

I wouldn't call myself an Adult Swim fan, but I enjoyed many shows it's had like Metalocalypes, Boondocks, and Venture Brothers. Sure they air some garbage, but this guy makes a good argument for them.

Cena_mark - 2016-04-11

Without Adult Swim we wouldn't have had this magical clip.

Boondocks and Metalocalypse for me. Also, reruns of KotH and Futurama. Most of their shows were unwatchable crap, but there were certainly enough good ones to keep the block as a whole interesting.

Are you as stoked as I am for the new season of Samurai Jack, Cena?

Cena_mark - 2016-04-11

No, I never got into the original Samurai Jack.
I just found out today that season 6 of MLP is out. Four episodes in already. You'll like the third one it's Maud centered.
New Steven Universe is over two months away. I've been suffering.

EvilHomer - 2016-04-11

Oh, yay, thanks! Speaking of which, i wish you had of told me Maud was in the Tree Hugger episode, because I would have watched it sooner. :(

If you need something to watch besides MLP, might I suggest the pirate show, Black Sails? Gal Pal recently got me into it (she sailed on the Eagle, so naturally she loves it) and I must say I am quite impressed. Without giving away anything, it's even got some great messages about friendship!

EvilHomer - 2016-04-11

Oh, and re: Boondocks, you know that's an anime show, right?

Cena_mark - 2016-04-11

Ooh, You finally watched it! I guess I didn't mention Maud cause she wasn't the focus, then again she had a really killer line with, "You're the most basic of jokes."
But now I'm sure you agree with me, Flutterhugger is the best ship in all of MLP. The Eagle is the worst ship in the Coast Guard. It exists just to be pretty and so cadets can learn how to pull on ropes. What's your take on Lapidot?
I can agree that Boondocks is an anime just like Avatar and Korra. I think the definition of Anime is more about it's style as opposed to it's nation of origin.

EvilHomer - 2016-04-11

Her joke was more than enough to salvage the episode. It's even the kind of joke *I* like to make! (much to the annoyance of my friends!)

But no, Flutterhugger isn't the best ship. They're clearly friends, and nothing more - and that is fine, because as the episode taught us, Fluttershy can have more than one friend! Still haven't started watching SU so I can't say, and I thought you LIKED the Eagle? The Eagle isn't there to look pretty, it's there to train officers and turn them into sea-hardened leaders-of-men. It's a Nazi ship, too, a face-turned Nazi ship, so that automatically makes it the cool antihero of the Coast Guard! Perhaps one day you will be a captain yourself, Cena, and on that day, you will finally understand the true meaning of the Eagle.

Cena_mark - 2016-04-11

I never said I liked the Eagle, and I sure as hell would never want to be part of it's crew. It's like a pearl. It's just intended to look pretty. It serves no mission purpose, as I said it's just to teach cadets how to pull on ropes.

EvilHomer - 2016-04-11

So? Saudi Arabia's already getting out of the oil business; peak oil is just around the corner, and when that happens, all you non-rope-pulling Coasties are going to be out of a job. A real sailor knows how to sail, with sails.

And what, now you don't like Pearl, either?!

Cena_mark - 2016-04-12

She's my least favorite character. Watch Rose's Scabbard and you'll see what a big jerk she is.

EvilHomer - 2016-04-12

Yeah, I don't like her much, either. Pearl is a lower-caste gem; a servile Epsilon, and unfit for any task except taking orders.

Which is odd, given that she'd be the LAST Gem allowed anywhere near the Eagle.

Cena_mark - 2016-04-12

Cadets are like Pearl. Puffed up senses of self worth, yet completely useless.

Gmork - 2016-04-11

It was always a mixed bag, but unfortunately the bag became more crap than quality the longer it existed.

endlesschris - 2016-04-11

I was in middle school when adult swim started up. Yeah, it pretty much defined my childhood: Home Movies being a prime culprit.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-04-11

Ouch. I was in the latter half of high school when Adult Swim premiered.

Robin Kestrel - 2016-04-12

I had just graduated from college. Adult Swim is still my go-to network.
