Me and a friend hung up the cool looking ad posters from PC Gamer with a Grim Reaper standing over the town. "Coming this summer" it read.

A month later, it was replaced with the "Coming this fall" version.

Months later, the "Coming soon" version.

Years later, I had forgotten about it when I found it in a bargain bin. I got it for his birthday as a gag gift. He gave it away to his little brother. =(

That, and the ridiculous puzzles

The real bitch was they had awesome looking (for the time) CG graphics that looked creepy as hell. Unfortunately since it was the early to mid 90s some suit figured FMV was the way to go so they scrapped all the CG for bad FMV and even worse acting. Not only did it make the final product suck, it turned it into vaporware that no one cared about anymore by the time it came out.

It's not the first time this has happened.

Well, it's the first time Jack Black saw it.

It turns out the main character is inside a VR simulator meant to deliberately expose him to absurd violence so that a mysterious organization can train serial killers for some reason.

When this is revealed to you, the final boss gives you two options: Exit the VR chamber and become a serial killer now for some reason, or live a long, happy, fruitful life with the girl of your dreams in an idyllic fantasy world.

So there's that.
