I feel bad for old Ned Flanders here, but he needs a plan of action and not just pathetic hand flapping. He probably needs to squeeze Google on this: if they are not forthcoming he should take it to other vendors in the playstore. The Goog will come around after some of that action I am sure. Ultimately the problem should be addressed at the source, in this case the judge in East Texas who is coloring outside the lines. How I am not sure, but that is beyond Ned Flanders reach. He needs Google in front of him, and not behind him. They won't even give you a reacharound, Ned, FYI.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-06-08 All well and good, but am I to understand that this guy is being sued for distributing his software through Google Play? Not much he ( or we ) could do to prevent that, except not use the service. Hence my suggestion of getting leading publishers to quit the service if the terms aren't amended to provide protection in the event they are sued for using the service. I should think Google would _want_ to deal with this mess and not drop it on the users. Kinda ...evil, don't you think?

memedumpster - 2016-06-08 Yes, from the USA. This lawsuit would have never gone forward in the EU or some other sane region where he has legal protections.
I don't know if it's legally possible for an American dev to declare "this software shall be unavailable in the USA and can only be downloaded or bought in the EU" but I think a lot of devs should look into doing just that.
This is the worst nation on earth for any kind of computer code based innovation that doesn't go immediately into a weapon.

Google's clients are the government agencies and other large corporations that pay for access to the data they harvest. They're certainly not the users, users are the product.

Oktay - 2016-06-08 What you guys seem to miss is X-Plane is about 15-20 years old, and this lawsuit is only about the Google store version, the desktop app is not even mentioned AFAIK. He's being sued for trying to sell a version for Android, through The Great Google Moogle Store.

Uniloc has been doing this for a while on many different fronts.
He's making this sound a lot more apocalyptic than he should, though. Yes, the reform laws that were set to be voted in were killed by Harry Reid, but there are Supreme Court cases in the works that are still set to be heard within the next year or so. The Federal Trade Commission is also doing work on it.
