Five for Satan, but man, this is weak; he's definitely showing his age. Is the entire album this shitty? I dug into my archives and listened to Black Sunshine to purge this shit.
To me this looks and sounds like every other Rob Zombie video, which is okay, but the five stars are definitely for Rip Taylor as Lucifer. I'd love to see more of this character, maybe hosting a horror anthology show, like the crypt keeper.
Rob's been in a freefall ever since White Zombie parted ways. I love the man - he was my childhood hero - but I'm not gonna lie: musically speaking, the past twenty years or so have not been kind to him.
His visual art is still in top form, mind you. He should really just stick to comics and film.
His voice is long gone. I've seen him live a few times, and it's painful. Probably the most-shot voice I've ever heard - more shot than Ozzy, more shot than Axl Rose, more shot than Meatloaf even.
I can think of one thing that Rob Zombie did that was truly inspired, and that was the way he used FREE BIRD at the end of THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. World class irpny. Not sure it was worth sitting through the rest of the movie.
