Myself, I'm eager to give Impossible Foods a try:

I've never understood these efforts. Cultured cells seem like an impossibly expensive way to make food. Food, it's processing, transport, packaging is energy intensive...why the god damn hell would anyone even consider this process?

Grab any veggie patty and is has comparable amounts of protein/fat/glutamate/salt...that's all you are really really tasting when it comes to meat. Sure you mimicking the texture is challenging, but the preference is really a matter of conditioning. Put Tiger Woods and LeBron James on the package of your next brand of veggie burger...that's all you need to get people to eat stuff.

Apologies, Impossible Foods is a regular veggie burger (not one these cultured cell experiments) and will be on the market soon.

I'd like to try it, I'll put my money on it not being much better than a lot of brands that are already out there. I like Field Roast sausages.

I am tremendously fond of the Morningstar Farms Chipotle Black Bean burgers, and will happily eat them seven days a week. But I also like the taste of beef and would be more happier if I could have some of each. (While I am not fully vegetarian by any stretch, I try to lean vegetarian when possible.)

Consider that a big reason people don't go vegetarian is because meat tastes so damn good, and it's not that they're in favor of cruelty to animals, they are just being put in a bind where either they delight in life's simple culinary pleasures or season their lentils with the cold comfort of virtue. But what if that weren't a choice? What if you could have the meat experience -- or something very close to it -- without needing an animal to be slaughtered? That is a game-changing proposition, and I think that most people would take the vegetarian option if given the choice.

Also, what if fast food places could offer vegetarian substitutes to their usual burgers? First fast food place to figure that out will probably make a killing (har har).

I was vegetarian for about ten years. It was really pretty easy, except for the incessant intrusive badgering of meat eaters.

And yeah, black bean burgers are pretty darn good.

Most of my girlfriends have been vegetarians, so I can confirm that blackbean burgers are a godsend.

Bort - 2016-07-25

You got a thing for farters, EH?

EvilHomer - 2016-07-25

No, not for them, for me. Bitches ain't touching my blackbean burgers.

Bort - 2016-07-25

Oh, I thought that ... you might ... never mind.

About the burgers, ever try them with cucumber slices?

EvilHomer - 2016-07-24

Totally would the blonde one.

"witch fraud" is my new favourite tag

gmol - 2016-07-24

This was very good.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2016-07-25

Not wanting to be a witch is no excuse for giving up meat. Just my two cents.
